I don't read newspapers and I only go with what's on the bbc. With regard to the grooming gangs that are finally being addressed they constantly avoid referring to them as Muslim, only Asian which quite frankly is offensive to Sikh's and Hindu's and Buddhist's and if anything tarnishes an even bigger section of society. Islam is the root cause of it, or the form they practice, so why not address it and include the muslim community in addressing it and work together to eradicate whats clearly going on? Silence and denial does nothing but fuel far right ideology, which in turn fuels the just as dangerous and just as fascist far left ideology and you have this big confrontation.

Of course I'm not saying they ALL think like this, but when followed to the letter of the law, that's how it is. End of the day these Muslim gangs are being uncovered all over the show. Of course people from all other faiths and backgrounds can be sicko's too, but this is epidemic in the Muslim community and to be fair there have been leading members of the Islamic community that have acknowledged there is a problem and have spoken out.

What planet are you on lad? the afghan war had nothing to do with the terrorist attacks happening then? the fact that 90% of afghanistan was controlled (by violence and terror) by the taliban? that pretty much the rest of the UN closely followed US/UK intervention? and you say defeated- even though now the taliban has been eradicated to pakistan and now only a political faction, now women and children can go to school without being shot, families live and express views without being beaten and mutilated. If thats defeat, i'll take that all day.

Where did I say the daily mail tells it like it is? I said I don't read newspapers. You're literally making stuff up. And Ididnt say The BBC covered anything up as its fairly obvious what religion these men follow, but they are prepared to use the word 'asian' and in doing so tarnish the reputation of a much broader range of people rather than use the word 'muslim' for fear of being branded racist and offending the religion which loves to be offended. Probably threats of violence and god knows what else persuade journalists too.

From my experience of muslims and Islam (from both living in the Middle East and having muslim friends and colleagues from all over the world) I would definitely say that because of the terrorist activities of very few indeed, it's completely changed the way the man on the street sees them.
What people have to remember is that the terrorists are fundamentalists i.e. extremely extreme and account for a minority of muslims.
It's like saying Fred Phelps and the rest of his Westboro nutters are the face of christianity.

I'm vehemently against all forms of fundamentalism (and terrorism for that matter) but to tar all muslims with the same brush is ignorant at best and a front for bigotry at worst.

It's amazing how far off the mark you are considering you only take notice of the BBC.
Mohammed's wife Aisha was of indeterminate age when consumation took place, the only thing of certainty being that she had reached puberty. The Quran says that marriage can only take place between two consenting adults too (adulthood in those times was when puberty was reached. No age was attached. The same applied to most other religions too).
Probably a similar thing happened when King John married a twelve year old.

The problem still lies squarely with the individuals, not their interpretation of a religion.
