Kone Signs on 3 Year Deal

kone has scored 29 goals in the last 6 seasons ffs!

even swansea and norwich have been put off by his price tag! £5m is a joke!

defoe and bent will both be on the move this summer for around the same price!!

This has suddenly changed my attitude towards him.

Our major issue last year was not putting chances away. We didnt kill games off. Kone, with our midfield should do better. It also means we can rotate strikers more. Its not ideal but its not a bad idea if yet again we are working with financial constraints.

Honestly, I hope you are right, but rotating three or four mediocre strikers doesn't seem like the answer to our inability to kill off teams.
The only reason signing Kone makes any sense is that he has played for Martinez before, but I wouldn't rate him any better than either Anichebe or Vellios, so why waste £5 million on him?

kone got 1 in 40 games at saville! so he is defo worth a punt!

I really wish we never signed Arteta who had a dreadful time in Spain or Pienaar who had a dreadful time in Germany.

Kone has had a decent season in the same league as we play so he is one up on those two already ;)

thats it for me would rather we got rid of one of our mediocre strikers and put that money alongside the kone money for a striker who is not only younger but may also bang us 15-20 goals+ a season

I could understand you not fancying him over (an in form) Jelavic, but suggesting Kone is no better a striker than Anichebe or Vellios? That's just stupid.

I don't rate him either, but we have spent £5m

Not £35m

Give it a rest

Just my opinion, of course, but why do you think Kone would be better than either of them?
It just seems like a lazy signing, because Martinez has worked with him before, not because he's the best available (and signable).
