Can't see it myself, especially with COD Championships and the major Lan Events being on Xbox.

What does that have to do with the average gamer though? 99.9% of COD players don't go to any of that stuff.

I'm not on about the average gamer, that is my reason for buying an xbox. Majority of people who play COD competitively will by the xbox and I am one of them.

Not at all. I'm an XBox 360 owner, would love to be a fan of the XB1, but I'm not. I stand by what I've just said - you'd have to be completely mad to spend £450 on a potential paperweight. The only people who will buy a XB1 are Halo-fanatics and "Microsoft at all costs" cultists.

Oh, and if you are worried about being spied on, better bin your laptop with its webcam and microphone.....never know who could have gotten spyware on it and is listening to your every move.

Even better, get rid of your phone. Did you know that a phone, even perceptibly switched off can be pinged and activated. There is a reason that cell phones aren't allowed in the SCIF, even when 'off'. If you are really that paranoid about being 'spied' on, get your ass over to the states, buy a gun and move the the mountains of Georgia and dig in.

The X1 spying-on-you "concern" is hilarious.
People don't seem to have a problem with webcams or voluntarily buying the existing Kinect device. If you're that worried about it how about you just stick a piece of duct tape over the camera?

To think that MS are introducing a device that will gather information about you and pass it to nefarious 3rd parties is the height of paranoia. They've really done a hatchet job on you if you really think that.

So far, the only major security scam of the online generation has come from the SONY camp.

Some of the other concerns are valid, but on this point, haters gonna hate.

Why would a game developer who releases titles on both PC and consoles feel the need to big up the PS4 and One ?

And you can play Steam games offline.

Yes, but a gaming PC becomes pretty useless for gaming for most people without access to Steam, with many new titles even requiring Steam to install even if you buy a retail copy.

Steam isn't the only way to get games on a PC though, is it? I could use GOG on my hypothetical gaming rig, or an old fashioned CD install. Whereas on the Xbone, it's MS' way or the highway.

Oh and I don't think it's outlandish to claim PCs are more likely to have an internet connection than consoles. Who has a PC without the internet? Whereas plenty of people -- the military for example -- play games consoles without a connection.

Nope. Football Manager 2013 - offline. Skyrim - offline. Prices compared to XBox Live Marketplace - ridiculously cheaper. 75% and 66% off two titles as we speak; Microsoft are still charging retail for games released in 2009 on Marketplace. Not just that - practicality matters. Always online is a requirement for MMORPG's where there is no single player mode; not the case for pretty much any console title.

The XBox One is not comparable to Steam, yet even if overall DRM/PC titles were compared, you'll find people in uproar over titles on the PC with always on DRM like Diablo 3 and Sim City. That's the point - it's a deeply unpopular model of gaming that has been trashed by the gaming community on the PC, and there's zero appetite to see that sort of system applied to console gaming.
