Confirmed: Martinez New Everton Manager - All Reaction Here

Wonder what his initial approach will be?

A lot of managers like to play the "the first thing I have to do is get you fit" card in order to stamp their authority on the squad straight away.

Because of the stage of the season I have a feeling he will instead play the "this is going to be enjoyable" card so that the squad like him straight away.

Training will be fun and aimed at shifting to his playing style rather than a pre-season fitness slog I reckon.

Looking forward to the new look Everton now.

One of Martinez strengths is his charisma & he always comes across well in press conferences etc, so no real surprise that he's said all the right things on his 'debut' at Goodison.

I hope he keeps most of the backroom though, as no doubt for me that the defensive strengths of Stubbs & Weir would compliment his style & give us some continuity. It wasn't broke, so let's not smash it to pieces. He'll impress me if he takes that path, as it's the path of least resistance to bring in your own trusted cohorts - but it's not always the right route. I was amazed at how Moyes cleared out Phelan & Co at OT, not a wise move as an opening gambit imo.

Good luck Roberto

I was a big moyes fan but If I had one critiszm towards the end was I feel his enthusiasm for moving us on from where we were had curbed a little. I don't blame him for that, as 11yrs banging your head against a wall never having the funds for those last couple of players will do that to you....It's a natural reaction, whether you realise it or not.

Roberto is all new and enthusiastic about what he can do. Plus it's his big move, most managers will never get near a club the size of EFC....moyes will be a different man again at utd. And I'm sure Roberto will be here too.

I'm quite excited, Great presser

I agree.

Genuinely feel for Moyes and will aleays be greatful for the job he did and I'd have been the same in the situation, you know you can't progess any further, just wish he'd have been a bit more vocal against the lack of backing rather than embracing it and playing up to the "over-achievers" card. He almost gave up in the last few years, but without every really giving it a good go. We were always going to come Top 7/8 in the league and were always comfortable but he never tried to change anything, he'd just accepted it.

Think Martinez will rejuvinate the whole team and possibly get some better performances out of struggling players by impoving the football we play

We might slip a few league positions (I doubt it) but I feel 100% more confident of winning a cup or winning away at a Top 4 team with Martinez than I ever did with Moyes.

Would much rather win at say Old Trafford by being positive and then lose at City, Arsenal and Chelsea than going for a 0-0 at all 4.

Could swear he said he was going to bring his staff with him in the press conference. Might be wrong though.

Kenwright has done Martinez no favours with that Champions League qualification statement. [Poor language removed]. I bet Martinez is fuming.

Can't post a photo but did anybody see the wreaths from the (former) badge on the press conference wall?

Good spot - they're filling the gaps where we've not got enough sponsors... FFS!

Raymond Verheijen, former Wales assistant to Gary Speed and Dutch coach had a dig on twitter recently about Moyes's training camps of "non-stop running" and Phil Neville had a dig back, so will be interesting to see what approach Martinez takes especially in the friendlies.
