Just supposing he threw his toys out the pram, the club was put into another 20mil of debt to give Moyes some money for a season in the hope we could do something ace, we fail because the other clubs carry on putting 30 or 40 in, we then have to sell 30mil of players to cover the extra debts arising from the gamble..
Would you applaud his endeavors in securing this money or find the obvious negative in dragging us into more debt?

Why will the club go into debt if there's that type of spending? The new tv deal will see revenue increase by about 30% from what I've read.

So basically Moyes has to demand from his EMPLOYERS that they give him millions of pounds, and then he has to go out and actually by good players otherwise he's f***ed.

Yeah, i don't blame him for not doing that.

Then you obviously have no conception of the power dynamics at the club. This isn't a wet behind the ears manager with zero clout. Moyes is the major figure at Everton and the board would be on thin ice if they didn't put aside cash for him.

Or maybe you dont think he's earned the right to demand it?

Ah so this issue is a new one that only relates to next season, you've not blamed him for this lack of spending by the board in seasons gone by?

Just because he's a very important part of the club does not mean he can start demanding that his employers invest millions of pounds of their own money into the club.

All this talk about money to spend and ambition didn't that all start after Wigan ? After it became clear he'd handled the situation badly . I could be wrong but that's the way it feels to me .

Not really, it pretty much started after the January window came and went, with only a failed bid and a young un picked up, when clearly the squad was crying out for so much more.

You say all this like it'd be the first time in histrory that a manager of a club would have issued a public 'back me' plea. It does happen...and it will in the future.

Anyway, there's really no debate to be had about his need to issue a back me plea, he's apparently made it - and plainly - through back channels via his placemen in the media that he's wanting to iron out finances...in fact, he's said so in public himself.

The issue is whether he makes good on that. If he renews his contract without any substantial increase in fianancial fiirepower: that's the real meat of this and it's what I'm saying he should be judged on

I thought moyes himself only mentioned money or ambition after Wigan , I'd totally understand his frustration after the Fer deal. I do understand why (if it was the case ) moyes could be frustrated about the finance if it was me it'd probably drive me mad but as has been said he's not just arrived he's an integral part of the club and it seems obvious he knows the score .

So if he asks for more money, and the board say no. Should he resign ?

That would go down well with future employers.

Well, hasn't he always said he only wants to stay if he can progress Everton?

To do that he'll need more money...or else he'd have progressed us even further if he could have done that without the cash.

Would the board deny him spending power and risk losing him? That's the real question to be answered. Personally, and given his stated feelings on the relationship between cash and progress, I think it's time Moyes found out the answer to that question. Dont you?
