This thread makes my vomit want to vomit.
Some of them talking about becoming 'fans' in 2008. Christ.
Completely random for me. From Devon and from a family where pretty much nobody is into football. We watched the World cup when it came along but that was about it.
One day back in primary school, I was asked by someone who I supported and, rather than say nobody, for some reason I said 'Liverpool.'
From then on I always said I supported Liverpool.
From a very strong Gaelic Football background in Ireland but I had kinda followed Spurs a bit as my best friend was a nephew of Pat Jennings and I had aspirations to be a goalkeeper. I saw the light though and have been loyal to the one master since then. I suppose it was the success at the time, probably similar to the Sky-generated Manure fans, but also I was far more a fan of St John than I was of Greavsie so it was natural! Brucie was my child hood hero!!!
When I first came to England, I was a Villa fan, although I was merely 7 years of age. Within a few months, I became a United fan ( I know I know, but I was young at the time). But then I met a guy who showed me how great Liverpool were as a Club, I developed a real sense of love for Liverpool which I never felt for any of the other two teams (I was about 8-9 at this stage). And then rest as they say is history... YNWA
I'm going to say it: I was/am a glory fan!
Can't remember not supporting LFC as when I was a kid we never went to local football matches. Oxford Utd were my closest club, and I watched them live when I was a teenager, but when I was 5 I didn't really understand where we lived or why you support a team.
The rest of my family are Arsenal fans - they are from Devon originally so no real links to the Gunners either - and I guess Liverpool were just always ahead of Arsenal in the league.
26th May 1989 was a hard day for me!
Watched them in 2000/2001 and fell in love. Just happened like that I grew up supporting Arsenal due to my fierce love for London and equally fierce indoctrination of my father to not support the wrong London-team but after that season, I was gone on Liverpool. I still like Arsenal and they are my second team, and I am also a big supporter of Werder Bremen but it all pales when it comes to Liverpool
Throw cups of **** all over him, it's what he would want'' I think Everton should give Carragher a guard of honor too, this will be his last Merseyside Derby. ''
