I would sooner we keep Fellaini and play him in front of the back 4 where he should be. And sign a proper number 10 who can thread the ball through to Jalavic ( I would use Barkley here, since the FA Cup loss he should have been given the playing time to develop for next season) who can then start slotting goals again. Jelavic has had a dreadful season but is still a good striker/finisher. We need a more mobile energetic midfield for me. Pienaar has been awful since christmas and isn't getting any younger. When thinking who we could buy I would look at how successful Dortmund and Bassle have been with relatively raw young players. I also think it is the correct stratergy to persue young Centre backs (we seem to be linked with a few). The defence this season has been dreadful.

Interesting to read that Levandowski almost signed for Big Sam at Blackburn Rovers. I bet he would have been rubbish and disappeared into obscurity had that happened.

With what money are we suppose to buy these players with . Wouldnt you prefer to sell fellaini buy a defensive midfielder and a number 10 and striker and use the tv money to improve the clubs finiances . He is our only asset who we can sell and make big money on

If we sell Fellaini for £22m+ and Moyes is around to reinvest it we'll end up being a stronger team. If he's not here that's a lot more worrying. Could end up with players like Allen and Borini.

A lot hinges on the management situation.

Or Billy and Johnny!

New TV money. And the owners should put THEIR hands in THEIR pockets for once instead of crying poverty. As I said Dortmund, Bassle amongst others have built creative and impressive teams for less than 30 million. It can be done. I suppose Dortmund havn't exactly missed Kagawa though (although league form has suffered).

Lol :(

And Distin.. Would be a shame to bring in two more players player of the year winners wouldn't it?

Lol Billy and Johnny have been a total waste of money. Billy barely put in a performance and Johnny is an expensive back-up, halting any progress for Duffy. The money could have been far better spent on a pacey wide player or a striker at the time. I honestly don't get where the notion that Moyes would be great with money comes from. FFS we'd have spent £18m on Jo if Man City hadn't have outbid us!

No one knows whether he would be good with money or not, its never been tried.
Just saying that with the two mentioned he also got Distin, lost a couple of mil on Billy and 2 players of the season, JH may of had a bad one this year but proved he can be an outstanding player last season. Clearly despite whatever has happened this season, JH is a good player, you can't fluke an entire year of quality.

Moyes needs to demand £25 mil from his sale and say £10 mil of the tv cash to invest in 3-4 top class players

Problem is, all the new money around will have the effect of pushing wages and transfer fees up so when buying you're not going to get as much for your money as you did this season. The so called financial fair play rules will also push transfer fees up since clubs will be after top dollar for anyone they sell so as to keep a lid on their net spending. Add in our case the need to pay off ban debt then I think we can probably assume that our activity in the transfer market will be limited.

Oh my, Do we really need to go down this line???

I don't even like misery guts but you can't argue about his transfers. FFS he's better than 'the professor' these days.

I love fellaini but I do feel the only way to move forward is by selling him to the highest bidder. I'd imagine 25-30M depending where he goes...my preference would be abroad!

If selling him resulted in us bringing in say negredo Fer and 1/2 of moyes gems, that would represent excellent trading.

After that if some of the tv money and player trading could be used bringing in 2/3 more new faces I think we'd come into next season an Awfull lot stronger.

Fellaini sale is probably gonna be key to us moving forward. Great article

all well and good saying that but which of the teams above us would pay that money for him considering ffp comes into play and which teams could he adapt to.
one of his main strengths is the long ball over the top which none of the teams above us play.

One of his other main strengths, arguably a better quality in him than the long ball option, is being a fantastic defensive midfielder, which every single team uses.

It was shown last season that the role that Cahill was playing was being countered by every team in the league, to try and continue with the role with Fellaini is shortsighted beyond belief. We have played better in games when he's been out than when he is played in the role behind the striker. Moyes either needs to play him as defensive midfield or sell him.
