Very interesting article by Michael Cox on Fellaini and how his sale could benefit us. Pretty much what most say but it s a good read

Well-written article with some thoughtful analysis based on decent research. The bit that stood out for me:

"Fellaini isn't purely physical but also isn't a player who provides through-balls for Everton's forwards. The season-long struggles of Victor Anichebe and Nikica Jelavic may partly be the result of insufficient service -- statistically, Fellaini creates only as many chances as Gareth Barry or Glenn Whelan, despite his advanced role."

I worship Felli when he plays as a CM - in the prem only Yaya Toure is better. However I don't like him at ACM/10 because we become more inclined to hoof when he's there. Twelve goals from him is not a sufficient return when you assess the impact on our general performance.

If we sell Fellaini for £22m+ and Moyes is around to reinvest it we'll end up being a stronger team. If he's not here that's a lot more worrying. Could end up with players like Allen and Borini.

A lot hinges on the management situation.

Keep Fellaini, play him properly by keeping the ball on the floor, spend the TV money.
Felli is a beast but he's also an absolutely quality footballer, you just don't see it that often because he's chesting 30 yard long balls all the time. Selling him doesn't improve us.
Get Jags to pass to the nearest player instead of hitting it at the big man and you'll get a better team with a better Fellaini in it.

My fear is that re-investing the Fellaini money will give the club an excuse not to invest with the new TV money.

If, and this is the most unlikely if of all time, we didn't spend any money at all and put the club on a better footing off the pitch I'd be sound with it. Felliani or no Fellaini.

This.

We're better with our best players here.

If the money was put towards a stadium solution, better marketing, and/or recovering assets lost over the years I would agree. Just wiping out the debt only puts the club back to where it was 10 years ago and does nothing to address the structural problems going forward.

Buy some decent attacking players and he won't need to be pushed up the pitch, seeing him play CM against Arsenal reminded me that that's where he should be played except possibly when chasing games late.

If we are going to get a few players this summer, I would like to see one good young CB brought in and the rest forward/wide players. (if Fellaini stays of course)

Moyes has always, always loved a combative no.10. Even if he goes he'll be replaced with a similar player. The David Silva type player in that role has never appealed to Moyes.

Forme the answers already in our ranks. Mirallas would score 10-15 and create havoc in that position. Get a top right winger, which we could, and we'd carry a major threat going forward.
