Well, Geordies are a bit thick, aren't they...Never got the credit he deserved for his lyrics. Still convinced he wrote some of the Back in Black stuff. Too similar to earlier albums, and Brian Johnson hardly pulled any trees up, lyrically that is.

Love them.
And back in the early 80's (in communist Bulgaria as well, music banned and everything) they were big even here.
One of my most favourite bands anyway, amazing live show as well.
And I don't agree that 2 good albums are making them big. If you're looking for amazingly complex riffs and lyrics - they are most definitely not the band to look at. The word is "rock'n'roll", it's what they are. It's not meant to be complex or hard, it's meant to be good for you and listened loud and with friends. While drinking, obviously.
They are big because they are big. Yes, somewhat repetitive, but you can only go so far in that genre. Every album has a few gems though, even Blow up your Video, which is definitely one of my least favourite albums, if not the least favourite.
And it doesn't really matter if everyone knows every single album, song and lyric by heart. When AC/DC come on, you know it's AC/DC, right?
Anyhow, I'm a lot biased on the subject, really.
Just to add, cuz I kinda didn't make that clear, my dad's a massive AC/DC fan (an a massive Evertonian to boot), and he told me about the 80s and that. I'm 20 this year, so I coudln't have seen that, really. From the hear there mate. Love it. They are the best, IMO, at what they do, except when they were releasing those albums, no one, except us ACDC nuts, liked them. Now everyone does!

Same as Jimmy Barnes/Cold Chisel Scottish or Geordies etc I don't see why they're so popular but we all have different tastes, different strokes for different folks. Not my cup of tea, but then again I'm not a bogan (Google Images it, Englanders)
Although I do get great enjoyment from reminding the aforementioned bogans that they are actually a British band. They seem to hate that, some have even threatened violence......
