"We need to move from Goodison"

I'm sure it does, but I'm also sure there are people in this world who could make it work.

For what it's worth i think it would be far cheaper than purchasing new land and building a brand new stadium on it

Even the best architects in the world can't create space where there is none. And if they did come up with some crazy design that somehow fits 50,000 people and vastly improved hospitality into a site which is already too small for a proper 40,000 seater then that design would be extremely expensive.

A stadium designed from the ground up in a large open area would be cheaper.

Not moving is resigning this club to constant mediocrity, as we will never have the financial strength to grow the business.

The only way to redevelop Goodison would be to use space on the adjoining roads and knocking down houses, something which would obviously cost a hell of a lot of money.

Goodison is a very old style of construction (obviously) and to increase the capacity, add in better facilities and meet todays building standards it would probably have to be a lot bigger. The Top Balcony for example would never be allowed to lie on the gradient it is at now, it's practically a cliff face, and so if that was built today it would probably have to come out of the building line of the stadium by another few metres at least.

And even if we did buy those houses etc. the church is always gunna be a problem as you have to build around it.

I'm sure the Stadium of Light's footprint is about twice the size of Goodison's despite only being 10k extra capacity. Most of that is down to the hospitality and facilities which aren't s***e.

Stadium of Light hospitality is spot on, it's actually a cracking stadium. Just a shame that the football played by them is dross.

Its a decent stadium but it's soulless, there is nothing around it, not historic feel to sit, just a dome in an area where they could build.

I'd hate that for Everton, but it seems we will eventually head that way.

Exactly. We could probably add a few seats that way but it would take a long time for those extra seats to pay for the costs of construction. I remember just after Christmas I went on a tour of Goodison and the tour guide told us that we only have something like 9 commercial boxes, whilst Old Trafford has almost 100! Not that I think we'd fill 100, like. Madness.

Let's just get Stanley Park ffs, that lot don't want it now any way! To be perfectly honest though I don't think we'd want it actually. As per Kirby I think the board are desperate to get a big commercial partner in with them to fund a large proportion of it. I can't imagine the council letting Tesco build a megastore in a park!

Goodison was once exactly the same, just a few stands with a pitch in the middle. It's history and the experiences within the stadium that give it an atmosphere, the same would eventually happen with a new ground if we moved too.

I don't think it will mate, it will just be like every other new ground, ala Southampton and Leicester who have identical grounds. There is no sense of identity anymore with some clubs. Newcastle and Man Utd retained that to a degree by redeveloping their own grounds.

With respect to Southampton and Leicester they're not in our position.

Chelsea, West ham, Spurs all redeveloped their grounds and now they all want to move.

This is the reality. Ignore the clown on the Talksport thread. There is no money - and won't be any money in the forseeable - for projects like this. The UK property industry is on its knees. The Magicpram fella that talked about £20 billion deals in Liverpool is utterly clueless.

The grand old lady is falling down around our ears but finding a property deal to underpin anything is a very very difficult task.
Just noticed this. Are you a professional arsehole?
What I mentioned was a plan put together at both local and national level with a collective from India heading it and including groups from the US and Shanghai was ongoing to redevelop L4 and expanded to include the proposed purchase of EFC.
That group, Jain, was admitted via the talksport phone in.
What you are prattling about, and confusing, is the planning permission I mentioned for Peel waters. Someone else put you right on that as well.
Seriously, if you are trying to gain an audience, improve your material, otherwise, grow up ffs.

With respect to them, they are all located in London so there is plenty of reason for that I feel as money can be made in the capital.

With Everton, there could be such a positive social aspect to redeveloping, not just the ground, but as I said, if it could be done with a view to regenerating Walton. Ok, commercially perhaps wouldn't be as great, but community wise and even for Everton who could still make money based on the fact they stayed at 'home' ala United, it could be so so good.

As I say, it will never be considered as there are too many people who would make vast sums of money off the back of Everton by relocating

Liverpool and the council giving Stanley Park to us would be ideal.

Building our new stadium on there looks the most realistic option.
