David Moyes believes the 31-year-old is finally getting the recognition he deserves: "I am delighted for him because he has been one of the players who has carried us for a lot of the season, he really has. Yes, at times he has dipped under his best like all players will do, but so far this season he has been very good.

"It's good that Roy's continued to pick him because he was first picked at a time when he was really in top form [against Sweden in November] but it's been tough for Leon because for a lot of the season he's been the one who's carried the team.

"His performances have been excellent. Whatever we've asked him to do — we've asked him to do different jobs at times — he's done it, he's come up with some important goals and he's had his best season at Everton for me.

"He's been exceptional and I'm delighted he's been given another call up by England."

If moyes actually believes this, then his judgement has been shot to pieces by years of backing Kenwright and he needs to go, quickly.

I mean, apart from anything else, how is Leighton Baines or even Fellani (pre Wigan) meant to feel?

If any player can be said to have "carried the team" this season, it would be one of those tow, IMO

Is it just me that things that (sadly) Ossie will be the one to drop out for a Tough Tackling Defensive Midfielder in the Summer, hes been good for us (baring mid Jan to Saturday) but Gibson and a Bruiser is the way forward for me.

He's not been one of those carrying us, and definitely not:

"for a lot of the season he's been the one who's carried the team."

Moyes's toaster is picking the team

Ossie's form before Christmas was sensational. Him, Baines and Fellaini are the only ones who've consistently put in a shift for a prolonged period this season. Distin and Jags have gone ok, but too many defensive errors. Jelavic, Neville and Howard have far from carried us

For those who don't agree, who would your top 3 players of the season be?

Honourable mentions for Gibson, Mirallas and Coleman, but they've all had prolonged periods out injured.

Talking up his player although I suspect he would probably like Ossie to get his feet up and rested seeing as with suspensions our midfield is back to threadbare again.
Club news that doesnt refer to the pain and embarrassment from the wigan game is a plus. Ossie has at times been the glue that bonds our midfield. And I fully expect Roy to ring the changes second half when the side is 4 or 5 nil up.

I am not saying I wouldn't rate Ossie's efforts very highly before he went off the boil about a month or so ago.

I just think it is absurd to say he "has been the one carrying us" for any part of the season.

My top three?

Baines
Fellani
Ossie

And I agree with you about Coleman and Mirallas if they had played more games.

Also I think Victor has been very good when he has played this season.

I really wonder if people on here watch football at times.

A) moyes is just talking up one of our players befrore a important game for him. What do you want him to say he's crap.

B) osman has been in the top 3 players for me this season. Behind felliani and Gibson and seeing as they've both had spells out and osman really stepped it up also he had to partner Neville in midfield.

How about just getting behind one of our boys for one eh lads.

Oh yeah and **** the wigan match it's over with forget it.
