A challenger to Howard

whether mucha is good enough long term i'm not convinced.

I think he should be the first option for the team tbh, the only thing that he has to improve is getting to the ball on corners (Howard got the same problem) and sometimes hold the ball instead of punching it. His positioning and ability to rush out has been really good, far better than what I've seen from Howard.

I said he should retain his place, it's long term I think we need a better keeper than the 2 we have got but i'm happy personally for Mucha to keep his place off his performances.

While I agree that Mucha deseves to keep his place as he's done nothing wrong, i'm a little surprised at the amount of people saying Mucha is better than Howard.

And i'm not even a Howard fan.

agreed.

If both are fit for the next game i'd give Howard the nod

I'm a bit conflicted here. Mucha has done nothing wrong to be dropped. But our next game is Stoke. And we know what they're like.

Can't decide who would be best really.

Stoke love keepers like Howard Ijjy. Can't get out for crosses, easily muscled out at set pieces and doesn't command the box at corners.

It's got to be Jan the man.

True, but Mucha isn't exactly confident on crosses is he?! Only a matter of time until one of those insane punches goes where it shouldn't.

He's not the best. He does come and punch a lot though which is better than what you get off howard IMO. He doesn't seem to get lashed by strikers either, although TBF we haven't played a side like stoke while he's been in.

Punching is a regular part of goalkeeping for most European and South American keepers, it doesn't seem to be something that British and North American keepers do as much. Don't know whether its because they lack the confidence to punch, or whether it is not coached as much . No harm in punching, its a good option in lots of situations.

Wouldn't go that far mate.

Fair enough but Howard has been a liability for a couple of years now and this season he's dropped more points than yer mar's dropped her knickers and that's saying a lot. Mucha on the other hand has done no wrong. But what I really want is a new first choice keeper, not faux competition for T-Howl.
