Referring to us as Manc's might wind a few up, and we refer to Wigan as the plastic Latics, so maybe turning that on it's head in some way might get good results (y). Good luck with that mate.

I appreciate that mate and sorry for what I'll write as it's not really good and rude without need to be.

Good luck for the season.

No probs, think i ready your preview before the 1st game, was mildly amusing, i didn't find it offensive but takes a fair bit to offend me (y)

Hi i'm coming to the game on tuesday with my 8 year old daughter by car and wonder if any of you could give me some information regarding best place to park for a quicker exit, (my daughter has school the next day). Places that i need to avoid etc, and is there anywhere near the stadium that is suitable for away fans to get something to drink and a bite to eat.

Thanks in advance.

As for the game i'm expecting you to turn us over, but i was more than happy enough to get the replay, the extra income is a lifeline for clubs such as ours.
FFs. your'e only 35 miles away we will not abduct your daughter. School on wed is safe...............

Park on Stanley Park (£10 bit pricey, and fairly slow getting off) if you can handle the stench of Anfield close by, but you'll still be back in Owdam within 1Hr 10 mins. I do every game from Stockport and never takes longer than that. M62 to Rocket, follow Queens Drive to signs for Tue Brook, right turn at the now derelict Newham Pub, across a few sets of lights and junctions and you're there.
Park up and it's 10 mins walk.
Enjoy the night, but not the result.

So...how did the night go for you Shaw_blues...aside from the result of course?

Yeah wasxa good night although I have a sore throat from all the singing. I parked at the Walton sports centre got there about 5:45 walked to the ground hoping to find somewhere to sit and eat. Ended up walking to McDonalds it was packed and ended up eating outside on the wall.

As for the game 3 - 1 was about right on balance of play just pleased we didn't roll over like Bradford. 2nd half ws more even once Matt Smith came on. Think we should have definitely had a pen in the 1st half for hand ball, although your pen was definitely one as well. The score was only 1-0 at the time don't know if that would have changed the outcome of the game. My daughter is convinced the ref is an Everton fan lol. Don't know where he only got 3 mins injury time from as well, there was 5 substitutions, 2 goals and Howard was injured for over 2 mins, wouldn't have made a difference though.

Hope you go on to win the cup, we now have to focus on the league and make sure we pull away from relegation.

Good luck against the plastics in the next round.

diagree on the pen, yes it hit his hand but it wasnt deliberate and you wouldnt have gained an advantage if he didnt handle it

def should have been more injury time, 5 mins at least

.

Nice one lad, all the best to your lot for the rest of the season.

On the subject of getting away after the game I noticed "Merseyside's Finest" did their usual brain free best. Parked everyone up on Walton Lane (both ways) to accommodate the Oldham coaches - which naturally just HAD to join the already ludicrously congested road (because, let's be honest, they were bound to get lost and desperately needed a war zone convoy away from Goodison). No one thought it a smart idea to arrange for the coaches to approach via Walton Lane and face the other way and after the game continue down Priory to meet Queens Drive without the extra mile of congestion for all. No one thought it appropriate to reopen Priory AFTER the last coach had gone and no one gives two hoots so agrees to close one tunnel on matchnights (whilst singularly failing to open an extra lane in the Kingsway).

I cannot understand the logic of anybody thinking it was a penaly.I don't at all blame our Oldham supporting friend(if the situations were reversed we would be shouting for a pen as well).
However, the ball was being booted clear from our own penalty box after we were under pressure. So, we are led to believe that one of our players, also in his own penalty box ,deliberatelt stops the ball with his hand so that he can stop the ball and bring it under control. It makes no sense.

I'd go one further - if Darron Gibson controlled that hoof from Jagielka on the spin, without looking at it, taking it down on a sixpence and meant it, he's quite possibly the greatest undiscovered basketball talent of all time.

By the laws of the game it was never a penalty. Lee Dixon was being ridiculous - hand moving away from ball, zero intent, no possible benefit gained from doing so.
