not arsed tbh. this should be a facebook status not a thread. what next davek starts a thread saying he's negative because he reckons we may lose at WHL?

Just a neutral observation about either end of the expectations scale...

Negative/cautious/realist people are often greeted with good things they were hoping for but werent expecting.

Over-optimistic people are often slapped in the face when they don't get what they were expecting / hoping for... and then throw their toys out of the pram.

Just saying :)

A negative man spends the entire year miserable because he knows that nothing good will happen to him.

A positive man only finds out that nothing good will happen to him at the last minute and has in the meantime enjoyed a year of blissful ignorance.

Just saying.

Think I prefer the second one.

We've lost 3 of our last 34 league games & yet this Kopite goon is being taken seriously by predicting we'll lose 4 of our next 6 & finish out of the top 6 & behind the ****e? Get a grip he's taking the piss ffs

First thing you said is a load of rubbish. Being a realist and negative is no more correct than saying you're a realist and optimistic, they are not in the same category.

As previous results have shown, we have a better 2nd half to the season, we step up our game against the 'bigger' teams and our record away at these places have improved slightly even if we lost some of them last year.
I think with our current squad we are more than capable of beating Spurs and Arsenal this year away, the only game I'm predicting a loss is the game at Anfield, because we haven't improved when we've played there recently even with our much improved 2nd half season.

Optimist = We'll win every game, everyone else is is ****e, we will get top 4.

Realist = Every game is tough, no guaranteed 3 points, we're a very good team, hard to beat. Don't have the squad for the top 4. Will finish in the top 7 which for our budget and squad is about right.

Close thread.

Absolute rubbish. You can be optimistic and realistic at the same time.

"Optimist = We've a chance to win every game, so we will go into it believing that we can. Everyone else can be beaten, we might get top 4."

Corrected.

Your attempt to portray 'optimistic' fans as somehow being deranged from reality is ridiculous. If you can't let your optimism about a game get the better of you on a matchday when you know that the reality may well be somewhat different there is no point in supporting a football club. Especially Everton.

Ok close the thread because you say so!!!!!!!

No surprise which side of the argument you have waded in on.

Don't think the Kopite remarks are really necessary. If a Liverpool supporter is indeed masquerading as a blue by posting about them regularly on an internet forum... well, their troubles are more profound than mere words can worsen.

On topic, today's results made me think for the first time that 5th might not happen - and that was basically the lowest we could finish without me feeling the season has been a disappointment, considering everything. I think our chances are slim, not dead.

The truth is our awful January window will cost us a top four place. Perhaps even top 6.

That's not truth at all, its pure guesswork, there is nothing to say that buying players wouldn't of seen us further down the league as they turned out to be worse than we had or they didn't hit the ground running and playing better than their replacements..
