with anichebe improving I would give Jelavic to the end of the season and if theirs still no improvement I would look to get rid like I said yesterday would get around £10-12 mil for him from your sunderlands of the league (fletcher for £15 mil) and could invest that towards a top class forward like negredo who's goal ratio is brilliant.

That's a bit soft to say the least, there's no way Jelavic has suddenly turned into a crap player. He showed last year just what he can do and he will come good again, the reason why he hasn't hit the form of last season is that the team isn't playing to his strengths anymore and a bit of second season syndrome has set in. This is not to say he was flattering to deceive last year and he isn't really all that, it's just that he's a known quantity now and he's working out how to do what he did last season consistently. For a rather infamous example take a look at Suarez, he was good when he first went to them then he went pretty gash in his first full season where he couldn't hit a cow's arse with a banjo then this season he's the sole reason why Liverpool are even in the top half. We'll see something similar with Jelavic.

I disagree for one Suarez was a recognised potential world class striker before his RS move, his price tag and goal ratio's (81 goals in 110 games) and 1 in 2 for uruguay, Jelavic on the other hand has a poor national ratio and for us this season he hasnt shown anything to warrent being a top 4 hopeful teams first choice finisher, he had a great half a season at us but so did cisse at Newcastle, like I said give him the rest of the season but if he still looks poor in our financial situation we cant afford to have a £10 mil+ player on the books not delivering, as anichebe as much as he has improved he still imo isnt good enough to get 20 goals a season which is what we will need.

When was the last time one of our strikers stayed at a steady level of performance for more than two seasons ?

You're placing blame at the feet of the wrong person. We can't just buy a new striker every couple of seasons because they need replacing as soon as Moyes has his way and gets them running the channels like some Brendan Rodgers false winger bulls***.

Probably my biggest gripe with Moyes.

No idea why he consistently does it, he can't see it's possibly his fault either.

I don't think Jelavic has started running the channels out of choice. Same goes for Saha and Johnson when they did it.

So, what's wrong with a striker drifting wide? If that's how you want to play then why not make your striker do something you want them to do? There's no rule that says keeping your striker in central areas is the best thing to do.

Whether it suits a player like Jelavic is a different matter, I don't think it does and it didn't suit Saha either. It did Yakubu though, partly because of the type of player he was, but also I think because he was better than Jelavic and Saha. No doubt it's a difficult role to play, but I really don't think we've been blessed with good strikers in recent years. Certainly it's not a case of Moyes turning good ones into bad.

Going to be very difficult to finish above Spurs when you look at their attacking options - Not just Bale, but Lennon, Holtby, Sigurdsson, Dempsey, Dembele. Not to mention Defoe and Adebayor. It's better than we have got, lets be honest.

If you've got a striker who is clearly suited to staying in the box and slotting does it not seem a bit stupid to spend £5m on him and then ask him to do a job he's clearly not suited to doing ? Moyes scouts and buys these players, why buy them if they're not going to fit your system ?

Keeping Jelavic in the penalty area seemed to work well for him in his first season here, and since he has started playing wide he has barely scored. We're not playing noticeably better football or winning more games now than we were at the end of last season so it begs the question why Moyes makes his strikers do this if it doesn't win us games.

I agree it's a bit silly and is another example of Moyes's inflexibility, but at the same time I have sympathy with the fact that he's asking relatively inexpensive strikers to play a role that's usually played by some of the world's most expensive. In that respect I don't think it's any surprise that Yakubu was the best at it for us given his price.

Whether or not Jelavic works more outside the box or out wide this season compared to last I think is negligible. I don't see a huge difference there, I do however see a difference in the amount of chances he's needing to score a goal.
