Is that kiss goodbye to Moyes then? Who would you want if so?

There's a lot of good debate and argument contained in this thread, for me...Moyes has been Kenwright's crutch. And that is why he is one of the highest paid managers in the game. Without him, Bill and his bunch of merry men would have been hounded out long-ago by the Goodison faithful.

However, IMO time is running out. Moyes desperately wants to win a trophy, and play regularly in Europe at the highest level. This transfer window was a seminal moment in his career and Everton's future.

For those who post on here and know me of old - know that generally I don't have a clue about the inner workings of the club, and its future - I'm just a fan...but I have heard through a friend and business contact, that there are potential investors who have been around for some time, and that initial dialogue between them and Everton have taken place over the course of many months.

The investors were keen to have Moyes re-sign a new contract, however IMO that now appears unlikely, and it maybe that the money men turn their gaze to other opportunities.

To me this transfer window, showed once again that the people in charge of our club have shown no vision, drive or commitment to take this club forward, and this time they may just have killed the goose that could lay the golden egg.

Eh, it was published in an actual paper.

I've had a look at the accounts and can't see any specific mention of Moyes' wage. Fairly sure the figure quoted by most is £3.5m and it's expected he'll be on £4m+ if he gets a new contract.

Fellaini on the other hand has a contract worth close to or more than £80k per week.

The mail has him at 2.9 million for the record.

We don't have a manager next season.

The more I think of that I get pretty worried.

If Moyes knows there are investors round the corner, and presumably more money for future transfers once the new guys come in, then wouldn't he be more likely to sign a new contract and be able to spend the new investors money?

Yeah that's pretty much how i see it mate.

Are you seriously suggesting that Everton should be finishing higher than 7th place given the financial restraints the manager works under?

Are you seriously suggesting you couldn't read the "no cups" bit? not that it's important like ... who gives a shte if we win anything ....ffs

there is another factor in play here, and that is the reluctance of the Everton Board to sell. And that is something Moyes cannot influence, control or plan for. I've never met him but he comes across as someone who is extremely driven, and who has a desire to achieve big things in his career. He must be asking himself

"should I stay or should I go?"

Only time will tell - IMO if he accepts another contract, then he's only arsed about the money and I've been wrong about him all along. You may find this stance a little odd due to the investment hanging in the wings, but given what I've heard the board seem very unlikely to sell at this time.

If he goes however then my thought about him are correct, in that he knows that there is potential investment around, but he has the courage of his own convictions and moves his career in another direction.

There are no certainties in either situation....so we will have to just sit tight and see, for me he stays, the board sell, we get investment, and we become ace again.

However this is Everton, and anything could happen

Should I start a thread about the fact that we don't have a manager next season?

I'm all of a confusion here.

Does it need a new thread?

Or will this one do?

I'm starting to panic the more I think about it.

We have no manager next season.

Not even a rubbish one.

*goes for a lie down.

Ah so you havent answered my question then.

The FA cup has proven almost as difficult to win as the league, we've come fairly close but players have bottled it on occasion, and sometimes we have just played poorly and been knocked out - it happens when you are the 7th best team in the country.

The league cup, i just feel our players - and players at a lot of clubs - just fail to raise their game for it. Most clubs play weakened teams and the whole tournament has become a bit of a lottery. Sack the manager because he hasnt got a great league cup record? Not for me mate, no.

We've got seven months, mate. Far, far too early to panic.
