It's dissapointing no doubt.

BUT, you don't get any points on deadline day

Win this weekend and it could put us 4th and perhaps even 9 clear of a certain other high spending outfit.

Anyone that came in was bound to have a settling in period, don't get me wrong, our squad, could have done with a couple of quality additions).

All I'm sayin' is, this weekends game, with or without new signings, is more important.

i am as annoyed as anyone. Forget behind the scenes we got 14 games or whatever to get behind this squad and make 4th place. We are all disappointed but have a serious chance here. We have an amazing record in the second half of the season and if we can pull that off again we will be there. i realise none of you miserable f*ckos will agree, but lets just get behind the boys and bring it home.

phil neville rally call right there.

you missed the classic neville line of 'our season starts now'.

Man City aren't that good, UTD leak goals, Spurs are weakening and didn't buy either, Arsenal are just ****. Chelsea players are desperately trying to oust Beneathus.

We kept our squad intact. Gibbo's back. Jelavic can't be as unproductive as he has been.

This is going to be great you guys!!!!!

THIRD is there for the taking.

COYB!!!!!

It's gonna be very very hard now. You just know if we get to wembley in the cup on that day we WILL have injuries to key players and only weak options to replace.

Mirallas an Gibson won't stay fit. Nor Vic, an injury to other key players Baines jags jelavic and i dread how much we'd slip.

Our season for me was always based on January. Be in a good possistion, add a couple of very good signings and we'd have a right chance. We didn't so well struggle.

Holy **** lad - can i have the time machine you're using so i can see what next week's winning euro millions numbers are?

FFS grow some balls and see what happens. It's sports. The richest team doesn't always do the best. We had a **** squad when we came 4th. Maybe we'll do it again.

Or we can take the boo-hoo approach and say we have no chance.

This.

How utterly depressing reading this forum! Anyone would think we were Villa, on the slide and not buying anyone of note. Yes it would have been nice to get a couple of players in who could slip straight into the first team but for whatever reason it didnt happen. Now we have to get on with the job in had and do all we can to ensure we have a succesful second half to the season. We always seem to do best when we are up against it with a small tight knit squad and i cannot see the next 5 months being any different.

FFS Man-up and enjoy the second half of what hopefully will be a succesful season

Remember folks we are only a point behind 4th and in the 5th round of the FA cup!!

I am choosing to look on the bright side - that being that we have come so far that we are all genuinely cheesed off at missing out on 2 really high calibre players. They were not phantom bids at all, they were bids for big players which is something you cannot keep quiet with the mediawhoredogs that we have in this country.

I am very very disappointed at the failings of the transfer window, but we did keep our stars and we COULD be in a better position in the summer to attract equally big names if not even better.

Feeling sorry for ourselves is not going to get us 4th in the table lids ;)

Could have been much worse and you all know it!

That was a disgrace of a transfer window, and we all know it.

No excuses: we had a perfect opportunity to strengthen in key areas and push on. It wasn't taken.

Fourth will never happen.

1) We have by far the least squad depth of all the teams competing for fourth.

2) We are in bad form.

3) The usual winter run of results has in previous seasons been sparked by the arrival of a quality addition. For two seasons it was Donovan, last season it was Jelavic. We haven´t got that fresh impetus now.

4) Our strikers aren´t scoring.

5) We can´t keep clean sheets

6) Our poor goal difference means we actually have one point less than the table says.

7) We have the run in from hell where we play all of our competitors away.

We've had Mirallas, Gibson and Coleman out for extended periods, Fellaini's been suspended.

With our best players available, or even one of them out, which team has actually looked better than us when we've played them? Citteh/Spurs/Arse/Utd/Pool/Chelski - these are the teams we raise our game for, and frankly we looked better than every one of them except Utd which was the first game of the season.

We need to beat teams like Villa convincingly so some players can be nurtured back. If we're 2-0 up at HT, rest Gibson and Mirallas until they are 100% match fit. No point in taking risks with a threadbare squad, but I still say we have a very good chance if we can keep firing.
