Kenwright: " We will give you £8,6M for him!"
FC Twente: " Great, we accept!"
Kenwrights: " Good for you. We will give you £100K every month for the next 86 months. "
FC Twente: " ..."

Billy (on 29 1 13): Actually...can we get a discount for the deal, please?...Do you want Blood brothers tickets...?

He was on a free six months ago and nobody better than west ham wanted him. That's a fact.

I agree that players from lower sides are often poached by the big boys. Diame wasn't. Says something doesn't it?

I don't know much about him from 6 months ago. I tell you something though, the past 6 months he must have developed a hell of a lot if Arsenal are prepared to pay for him. We'll have to wait and see.

You're spot on there. Wigan chose not to renew his contract for whatever reason. He didn't get into the Wigan first team for most of the season anyway, did score a cracker away at Chelsea though. The McArthur/McCarthy midfield pairing is very strong though so you can understand not finding a way to displace it. Annoyingly for Wigan they could really have done with him because of their injury list but then they can't afford to keep a player on the bench on wages of, I imagine, £30k+

Still think this transfer will go through. Most of this panic seems to be caused by rumours from unreliable sources.

It seemed to take a while to finalise both the Jelavic and Mirallas deals.

Jeroen Kapteijns of Dutch paper De Telegraaf Tweeted a statement from Munsterman, however, that stated: "Everton have additional requirements and we will not agree," while another FC Twente website — not the official site, it should be noted — is carrying the same report, along with an admission from Member of the Supervisory Board Aldo van der Laan that, "the probability that [the deal will go through] is not great".
Goal.nl reporter Stefan Coerts, meanwhile, says that Munsterman told De Telegraaf that it is the financial side of the deal and not the results of the player's medical that are the issue.
Coerts, believes that a deal could yet be struck before Thursday's deadline, Tweeting:
Personally, I expect situation to be resolved before transfer window closes. #Fer has set sights on move to #EFC. Compromise inevitable.

It was probably just the scourge of being managed by Europes third best manager, Roberto Martinez.

West ham's best player isn't exactly Barca's best player and if chelsea and arsenal were interested then why didn't they pick him up when he was free in the summer?

Because they're not, because he's not all that. Wigan and West Ham isn't exactly the CV of a man in demand.

as well as the fact he seems injury prone. why would we replace gibson with a worser player with a similar fitness record

(apologies to those defending him if he's not actually injury prone - i just don't see him playing much

Diame wasn't happy at Wigan, he hated life there. He openly spoke about it.

Funny how he's linked with utd & Liverpool there too.
