I was passing through JLA yesterday and had time to have a quick butchers in the sports gear shop. There was a whole section devoted to LFC as you might expect, also there were some United, City, Barca, Real Madrid, and various international team shirts. I scoured the place meticulously but I couldn't find ONE PIECE of Everton merchandising. So I asked the shop assistant about this and was told that it was because the club insisted on selling the stuff in it's own stores or by an exclusive agreement with a preferred partner.

For any traveller seeing this who didn't know much about football, you wouldn't think that there is more than one club in the city never mind one of similar status. Seems to be yet another example of the club shooting itself in the foot again. I mean, if it's OK for clubs from Manchester and Spain to have their shirts for sale in Liverpool airport why can a club from Liverpool not do the same ?

Our commercial department is a disgrace. Sort it out Bob.

IT'S A ABSOLUTE JOKE REALLY.

Theres loads of articles on toffeeweb about this. The bell ends couldn‘t sell water in a desert. Same with Liverpool ONE, When it really kicked off and everything was going on. The ****e opened a store straight away, we decided to wait a couple of years then open one. Its depressing..

I think we all agree with this mate. We're literally passing on the chance to earn a 7 figure sum.
Sadly an excellently composed argument was let down by some poor grammar at the end.

Good point EB. Have you considered emailing the club about it? I'd be interested to hear their response.

I try my best to give Kenwright the benefit of the doubt where possible and genuinely believe he does have the best interests of Everton at heart, but I am very sceptical about some of the people around him, the kit and catering deals we have in place. I'm pretty sure someone, either on or closely linked to someone on the board is making a pretty penny out of those deals and its money that should be going back to the club. More tansparency is needed over those deals.

Merchandising's too hard. It takes too much effort with stuff like ideas and forging contacts. It's easier for Bill to call ESPN and ask for another live game.

I'm just glad Robert Earl is on board now. He's the feller with the merchandising expertise. We should benefit from that.

I sometimes wonder do our club intentionally want to be ****e at the marketing side of things as surely people qualified in this area to be working in a top end Premier league club couldnt be this inept surely.?

I also cant stand that big purple thing opposite lime street having the liverpool crest on and shankly but no everton disgraceful I just hope in 10 years from now Shiekh Mansours little cousin takes pity on the state of us and throws some cash at Bill and his cronies to finally do one.

It would along the lines of 'exclusive agreements' blah, blah, etc, etc, so I won't bother.

I tried for weeks at the start of the season to get my girlfriend a ladies home top, but to no avail. I gave up checking the website after weeks of trying and have since lost interest in getting her one.

Last year I had an American friend over and tried for months to get him a keeper jersey, and to no avail. I even emailed the website and asked them for one. They were sold out and just didn't get anymore in.

That's approx £100 in turnoever the clubs lost and that's just from me.

It baffles me.

if you seen an Everton jersey in a sports shop in ireland you would stop and stare
they are like Hens Teeth here, there was a time most sports shops done the Everton Jersey
not any more. its a pity, most shops do RS and united and chelsea shirts but no Everton
then they wonder why we are not worldwide(n)

Basically the attitude of the owners seems to be that they cant be arsed growing the business, because a few million on the revenue from that source wont really entice a mega buyout for their shares. Why bother to make the effort? Best just to employ someone like our CEO who can spin a few stories about 'absolutely getting the best deal for the Everton brand'' or some such nonsense.

I agree mate its soul destroying to see what our club has come too and more importantly what our fans put up with people say moyes leaving will open peoples eyes but I cant even see that for alot of people they have invested too much into Bill Kenwrights "best evertonian" BS too see the situation for what it is.

My mates the same he's just happy to eat a pie swig a pint and watch the match never opens his eyes to the reality of the situation.

Think it's to do with the kitbag deal mate. That's what the club would tell you. Although, i live in Belfast and the lack of Everton tops (general merchandising) was apparent a long time before the kitbag deal. I have to do all my Everton shopping online or when I go over to games.

It wasn't always like this. I know we don't have the same market share in Ireland that the other mainstream clubs in England do, but we still have a substantial fan base. I remember as a kid being able to get an Everton top in Belfast no problem. Unfortunately as a (much) older man, this isn't the case.
