tim cahill

Player Valuation: £50m
Surprised me when I noticed that, considering the goals we've given away this season. How did this happen??

Same thing happened last year. We seem to have a decent defence without keeping many clean sheets. Why???

Any Thoughts?

Because other teams concede more than one goal more often than we do, that simple really.

There's nothing wrong with our back line, hasn't been for a while. The clean sheets stat is misleading.

Plus when you attack more, as we have this year, you are bound to concede at least once a lot of the time. I'd rather be winning games 2-1 than hope for the 1-Nil every game.

With us 3rd and Swansea, who are below us 1st, just where does that leave the 4 teams above us in the table that actually matters.

We're 5th and Swansea are where ever

So the other 4 teams above us must be attacking more

* sends memo to Moyes.....attack more you muppet

*receives answer....they've got better players than me and more money to pay them with....silk purse - sow's ear d*ckhead???

I think most of the goals we have conceded this season have been terribly unlucky as well!
i.e. Suarez' first goal, Walcott, Dempsey etc.

This is why before the end of Jan we need to bring in a midfielder and at least 1 striker.
The defence is doing well, it's going forward where we need that cutting edge

Swansea defence was excellent when we played them the other week, everyone done their job and we had no answer, dont know what happened at Southampton tho.

Imagine what we would have been like if we didn't have such a poor central midfield?

Neville and Osman are unable to adequately protect our defence, and our defence has been put under unnecessary pressure many times this season.

We'd have a minimum of an extra six points if we had a proper central midfield, IMO.

......still a bit of an achilees heel in the air defending set pieces.

I'd say the "heel" you talk about is the fact once again we have a case of "strikers graveyard". The jigsaw piece that was a 20 goal per season striker is suffering the usual case of confidence-itus just like all the other strikers before him!
