Has Fellaini really got a £22m buyout clause in his contract ?

Clause is believed to be between £25m and £30m and can only be triggered by a Champions League club. Chelsea is not in the Champions League.

If we finish outside the top 4 he will leave for around £30m in the summer, if we finish in the top 4 we will probably be able to keep him as well as bring in players of a high quality, without having to sell. Whichever way you look at it, we will have decent money to spend in the summer so I am quite relaxed about it all. He definitely won't be going anywhere this month.

Spurs sold Modric for 30m and Fellaini is far better and more influential than Modric ever was.

Got to be looking at more than 30m if we sell him, all of which must go to the manager to replace him and improve the team.

I hate the idea that a good 33% of the transfer fee is supposedly ‘going to the banks’, which really means covering the club’s losses.

It hasn’t always been this way, in fact we were only able to buy Fellaini because we sold Johnson and McFadden, and there was no talk of money ‘going to the banks’ back then.

It would be a total waste if a third of the Fellaini fee goes towards covering the clubs losses, surely the new TV money could cover that instead?

Moyes needs to get all of the money, minus Standard’s sell-on clause, which will be a percentage of any profit that we make.

As @MattHughesTimes correctly reported this morning Fellaini does have release clause in Everton contract - but may be higher than £22m

D'YA THINK PHIL?

This is the perfect response

I prefer rumours, much more intrigue and mystique.

Apparently, Fellaini is 1/5th Martian, accounting for his superhuman chest control and unfeasibly small feet.
