2 Weeks before KickOff...

I gotta say its god damn depressing, i dnt feel good about this season, but thats a good thing, cos whenever i feel we have a chance we get slapped about.

But from what Moyes is saying, unless somebody injects some cash into the club i cant see him signing the 5-6 players he says he needs and if we dnt i think he will walk and i for 1 will not blame him 1 little bit.

Yea he knew when he took the job he wouldnt have pots of cash and to some degree hes been supported well, but i think behind the scenes the club is in crisis.

Dismiss me as negative, but i cant really see anything to be happy about atm. Yea we got some good young players coming thru and last season we finished a wonderful 5th and enjoyed very good cup runs, but i feel the lack of numbers and quality in the SQUAD let us down near the end in all comps.

Our best 11, all fit, i fear nobody when they all on form, but its a long long season, players will pick up injuries, suspsensions and as highlighted in the Chicago Fire game we will struggle to field the 18 players needed for ALL the games this season.

Ofc we have been deeper in the sh** and yea we do have a lot to feel good about. But the lack of action and talking from the club is worrying.

Im @ the stage now, that even IF we signed Moutinho or any 1 player of quality i would still feel we are lacking.

I want to see the 5-6 players that our manager has said we NEED, not he would like, hes said we NEED these players.

I want to hear whats going on, i want some feedback from the club.

But most of all i just want something to feel good about.

As soon as a signing is made, a lot of the doom and gloom will lift and there will be a bit more optimism in the air. I just wish this first signing would hurry up!

i have a feeling that the youngsters will be playing a bigger part than we all think this season, and i reckon davey is happy to let everyone think we are in meltdown. say he picks them against b'burn, will we all do an alan handball and write off any chances of success ?

i for one have waited for years to see a crop come through and i think this time they may get the chance to shine, for so long there has been talk about youth players/reserve team players being the next big thing and then they are gone without us ever getting to see them or them being given a chance, lets face it they have performed at all of the levels asked of them so far, we seem willing to lay out big money for youngsters from wherever yet leave our own to end up in the lower leagues. maybe he'll field a couple of the birds.... there may be a loophole he can exploit (no pun intended)

I hear what you saying but the problem is not about the talent we have at our disposal, its about the numbers and the experience required...

Where was it confirmed that Wyness was negotiating for Topal? There was a story to that effect last week in a couple of Turkish papers - neither of which is in any way trustworthy. None of the more serious papers ran the story.
I'd be very surprised if Topal goes anywhere, GS want far more for him than we can pay and far more than any other PL club will pay for a youngster with his experience.

btw - on lack of transfer movement, does anyone have figures for the number of transfers concluded by PL clubs in June/July last year compared to this? I suspect numbers overall are down. There's a school of thought that as with house prices, other asset prices have peaked and will now decline. Possibly player prices will decline more steeply than property prices given the sharp drop in advertising spending this year - it's ad revenue that pays for TV coverage which in turn is the biggest earner for the clubs. IIRC the current PL payments are fixed to the end of the current deals - ie 2009. It'll be interesting to see how much Sky and co are prepared to pay next time.

Let me give all of you a bit of advice here.

Tired of worrying?

Stop reading this and other forums then.

I guarantee you that most of the crap that worries you is what you get from here, NSNO, Kipper, the red tops, other websites etc...

Many of you are getting worked up over things that haven't even happened.

Yes, if the transfer window has closed and we haven't signed anyone, time to worry. Yes, if the season starts and Moyes still hasn't signed, time to worry.

Ever heard the saying that 90% of the things you worry about never happen anyway?

Applying that to Everton might just be in order for many of you.
