First post. I'm a lurker, not a poster.

Thought I'd post a bit of tongue-in-cheek positive thinking on the board, as there's been quite a bit of doom mongering on here today.

For the past four seasons, we've finished 4th, 11th, 6th and 5th. Between 1964/65 and 1967/68 was the last time we had an identical sequence of final league positions. Two seasons later we were champions.

Interesting, eh?

Does this mean the omens are looking good for a 3rd place finish this season (as in 68/69), and champions next season (as in 69/70)?

No?

I'll get me coat. Looks like I'll have to increase my medication again.

3rd from bottom? Yea unless we sign some god damn players i can see it.

:(:(:(:(:(

IM JOKING?

well regarless of the strength in depth (that changes the situation greatly), if i had to choose the best 11 from each premiership team id say we are 3rd best.

yea you heard me you dirty reds.

i think our best 11 is better than liverpool and arsenals best 11.
these 2 teams get by on media hype and fa favouritism imo .

i can honestly say with my hand on heart that there is only 4/5 players i think are good enough for us with both clubs combined.

Sorry UKnightbreed but the above post is just too positive and will be deleted accordingly.

I think I have just taken too much of your medication and actually believe that we will win the quadruple this year and the World Cup in 2010.

David Moyes overtakes God in popularity contest.

LOL

I think you're headed for the padded cell, mate!

This is more of the kind of talk I like to see here :)

I think Arsenal look [Poor language removed] good to be honest, I watched them vs Stuttgart last night and I think its unfair that their youngsters are so good! With Arsenal you never know, the season before last they didnt look too good, played good but couldnt win and just a few seasons ago they almost finished 5th, so they could be contenders to make way. Signing Ramsey would have been a quality move by us, so I must, again, applaud Moyes on his transfer efforts.

Liverpool will always be sketchy. Their striker combination is now a major force with Keane and Torres. I really rate Keane, I think hes incredible actually and with Torres they could be hard to stop. However, I'm not too keen on their defense and I think they'll be the side we are going to be tugging it out with.

Chelsea and Man Utd will most definitely finish top 2. I think Chelsea might even win the league this coming season.

Always possible to finish 3rd and maybe thats the kind of attitude we need if we are going to finish in a champions league place this season.

We are going to need the 5 or 6 bodies that Moyes wants though if we are aiming at these sorts of goals, especially with the cups in the background. COME ON EFC!
