Well if the board don't back Moyes, then they have no ambition. Well I don't believe the board are lacking in ambition, and I believe they fully recognise what they need to make it happen.

so why do you think the delay in moyes contract is happoning?

imo i think he has signed but everything that happens a gp is top secret after last year I.E manny!

I see the positives, but a non Everton person does not see all of what we do. The reality is, we have not signed big name players at their peak for a long time. We've signed players from big clubs who were not getting regular football (Arteta, Howard, Neville) and been successful with championship players stepping up. It's really hard to see Arshavein or someone like him joining EFC unless we are the only offer. Really hope I'm wrong and your are laughing at this post in 2 weeks.

I still think without been able to attract the big names, Moyes can build a team that will be top 4 though.

so aj and the yak didnt get offers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well I think he can attract big names, just think about it.

Well that makes no sense. If he's that amazing and more than likely to go to a "Bigger" club, then why hasn't he gone already?

Maybe sleep on it and have a think, but trust me my friend its a lonely place being depressed about football. I've just spent the last 3 month's rotting on BlueKipper, they revel in depression over there.

You are right - football is not about negative thoughts (unless you are Walter Smith). What I really think is that Everton won't be signing big names but as long as Moyes is there with reasonable backing, we will continue the gradual improvement and become a top 4 side. Until that happens we should probably sit back and trust Davie to get it right without flash signings. As someone said earlier on , his signature is the most important this summer.

So you don't think signing the striker with a record second to Henry was a big signing? How about Lescott? AJ?

We need the big signings now, and this is the season we will sign them. We don't need another Lee Carsley, that sort of player will not improve this side, and to keep on the natural progression we need the "flash" quality to take us there. End of chat.

fook me mate if boro can sign brazilians and italians left right and center and west ham can get argies/italians and spurs can get a bulgairian which we all knew would be ace!

then WHY NOT EVERTON!

We were punching at our weight there signing them from Palace/Boro - I think we beat Bolton & Wigan for AJ. Hoping for Arshavein would be like Wayne Rooney pulling Kirsten Dunst, a little out of our reach.

I really don't want to sound negative, the future is bright even without big names. I know the speculation is fun but we need to be realistic - another Cahill or Lescott would be better value than Arshavein/Engelaar or anyone else at Euro 08.

Well some of us here are a little bit more optimistic, and dare I say it realistic. We know that Everton are a team ready to challenge, and we also have word from a very credible source that a deal is imminent.

However it turns out I would rather dream than go to sleep and have no dreams.

Yak, AJ, Lescott were all at clubs below our level - that's where we can find potential top class players who want to improve at Everton. Looking at players in the Euopeans , we will get outbid for the best and run the risk of signing a mercenary AVM with the rest.

As for Carsley, we need someone who can offer what he did before we can think about ''flash'' players.
