Where did the Park End Stand chanting go?

The Park End lives off it's past reputation.

It was good for 5 years tops, and even that was over 35 years ago.

I reckon it went downhill as early as when the wall went in, some of the early 80s games in there were dire. Half empty and dull, quite a few jibbed it off and went back in the Street End bar the odd match, which in turn probably why it went half empty and dull thinking on.

since starting going to matches 12 years ago (i'm 21) i think the atmosphere has got worse each season, but then some days the atmosphere is amazing again, everyone loving it but then the next week back to being quiet.

I think football in general is starting to fall silent! apart from the odd few grounds.

I just miss the days of jumping out of my seat to chant, not just because someone might shoot!

the old park end went downhill when they put the brick wall up because the back was deemed unsafe because it was wood and rotting away so they put breeze blocks up and that was that

Reckon the Park End needs a singing section....

It does but our fans are too middle class nowadays. They wanna sit there discussing their ****ingclobber they spent a fortune on in attempt to integrate their Maghull or Crosby background into scouseness.

I can't think of anything of interest to happen in the Park End for 30 years, or at least certainly not in the new Park End.

Bricking up the Park End meant you were more open to view so you could get away with less stuff, I think that put people off a bit hence it's downfall.

Never seen the appeal of sitting in the Park End. It's the last place i'd wanna be to watch a game. Every other part of the ground is more desirable.

Really? I've sat all around the around the ground and the Park End is probably my favourite place. No interupted views, no crowded gang ways, easy to get a drink before and at half time and I might just have been lucky but the atmosphere has always been good in there. The last game of the season against Newcastle was about the best atmosphere I've seen at Goodison outside of a derby game. For me in order of preference its Park-GSE-Main-Bullens. The latter needs knocked down asap as its an embaressment to the club.

lost it before the wall went up, most had moved onwards towards the paddock and the enclosure by the time the wall was built, infact most of the boys coudnt go in there by that time as the coppers were well on to who was doing what by that time, and before one game think it was derby county they had little filofax plastic wallets ,with pictures of some fans in it and told them in no uncertian terms they couldnt go in there anymore as they went up to the turnstyles, lucky enough if you had a ground seaon ticket you could go in the paddock, it was a laugh as one by one a new face popped up in there , i actually thought it was just as good in the paddock or later the enclosure, you could move away if the cops were on your tail unlike the parkend were blackbeard, handbars ,speedy ect could get there grubby police boots in action or a baton across your legs, last few times i went in there it was as you say a bore , only about a dozen of us in there for one game agaist stoke i can recall, that was grim like watching paint dry on and off the pitch,
