Why?

The value of a 28 year old player with 6 months left on his deal is £3m, the value of a 30 year old player with 3/4 years on his contract is £6m. I hope we get him for less due to him being so keen to come back to us, but £6m hardly seems wrong to me.

Because if we'd have bumped his wages up by a further 10k that he wanted, he'd have stayed and we wouldnt have to pay £6mill for him with £40k+ a week wages. No resale value either.

Its a joke. Just hemorrhaging money IMO. While Spurs piss them selves that they've made a £3mill profit.

We made (transfer fee wise) around £1mill profit from flogging him too.

Just doesnt sit right. Never has

I think it's just important to get him back it doesn't matter if we spend quite a bit of money on him if we can get him back we have to, we know he fits into the team and plays well for us so it doesn't matter what price.

he was going no matter what we had offered him . the lure of champions league swayed him to spurs .

Not quite. He wanted 70k a week, he wanted on par with Arteta. He turned down Chelsea because they didnt want to pay that. We couldnt offer him 70k a week either.

Spurs could. The Champos League thing was a bonus...but bottom line was always the deal. His snake of an agent kept banging on about the fact the deal we offered didnt represent our "player of the season"

Now, if true, we're gonna smash £6million on him? Always said, about £3-4million I'd be fine, but double what we sold him for? Nah. Not for me.

We won't get a player that adds the value he does for less than £6m, we cannot afford to stand by silly principles.

Keep Baines & Fellaini, with the addition of Naismith and a few more potential frees added to the squad, combined with the youth coming through, this could be our best chance for a long time at breaking into the Champions League. Especially with all the managerial changes at the clubs we'd need to beat to the spot.

For me, Pienaar is a necessary risk (in terms of paying £5-6mil for a player of his age with the assumed success that would follow)

Pienaar is a must, his arrival changed our season, not only by results but our style of play, whichwas at times excellent. His link up play with Baines ( please stay ) and the likes of Fellaini and Jelavic caused many opposition teams problems.

Just got back from work and disappointed to hear no news! My mate in work is a big Spurs fan and he uses a spurs forum that has a good ITK for spurs (he called the Nelson and Saha deals way before the rags). Anyway at 3.30 this avo me mate turns to me and says that Pienaar has gone! I said "where?" £4 Mill to Everton...
I'm no ITK and neither is he but his Forum has their own LCAB/Fox/sheeds and he reckons this lad usually gets it spot on. Odd this considering Peanuts in SA? Perhaps it's all about the money.. fingers crossed.
