Lou what it doesnt say in that interview is that the goverment in Ireland handed the GAA 160 million to develop the stadium, applied compulsive purchase orders to houses around the ground that were eaten up by the stadium, and that it was used as a political appeasement as they were planning on building a huge 80,000 thousand seat stadium for football and rugby. Its also intresting to note that croke park is in the consistuancey of the Bertie Ahearn the Irish Premier.

quality stadium though!

good article that.(y)

it hit a few nerves.
i think in fairness goodison should have been redeveloped over a period of time since perhaps the tbh takeover.
either the common sense to do so and/or the finances just havent been there.

face it , we got bought by skinflints/paupers who's intentions were good but could only just manage our debt let alone properly finance the club.

we needed a buyout years ago.thats where moyes has saved kenwrights bacon imo.

id be naive not to know that the day we move to kirkby woulld be the day that the owners since tbh took over would have sold the family silver completely , so to speak.

goodison is looking so tired nowadays meaning we have to do something with limited time and resources.

i think i'm at the point now where day to day i think we are no nearer to the new stadium than we were when the kings dock stadium plans were in motion.

i dont want to leave goodison or the city , but i like kirkby and at the moment i see it as the best option. but all the options now are really sketchy on the detail and all have there own individual problems.

perhaps its about time that all parties with options concerns ideas should sit down together and have a proper open debate.
i think this should be arranged by the club and wyness.

what are our options ? how much does it cost ? whos gonna pay for it ?

3 questions that havent been answered clearly enough in my opinion.

I agree with this.

Instead of everyone bickering and being anti-kirkby, hoping it wont happen down to pride etc, I'd prefer (in a perfect world) if the board could have a sit down with everyone involved (even KEIOC etc) and say "look, the move can happen but alot of things need ironing out. Lets talk about it and figure it out" Instead of opinions (be it being outside of the city, redevelopment of GP etc), or finding arguments to back up the fact the move is wrong, talk about solutions and figure out if its possible for the move to Kirkby is viable with genuine facts and figures that make sense.

If it cant be done its back to the drawing board. But if after the talk it cant be done, we should go for it.

We need a ground to survive in the prem long term, its simple as, and the quicker things are figured out with help from all involved the quicker we can find out if the move could work. If not, it'll be 2016 before we get a new stadium.

Again, in an ideal world this could happen. But it aint and people who dont want the move (be it personal or based on the glourious history of club) will not change their opinion and vice versa.

This is ridiculous this stadium now...I think if we had a re-vote now, the makority of the people would say keep looking for a new location.

Everton used to say "Kirkby is in Liverpool" etc...but now this DVD they have made for the people of Kirkby completely contradicts that, saying The stadium will put Kirkby on the map. Ridiculous.

Also from the pictures on the video it looks like a stadium in a retail park, anyone who has been to bolton knows how the retail park spoils it, its horrible The design is ok, but the rest is an abomination...

Where have you been. Everyone knew it was going to be in a retail park from the start. Also stop coming up with comments like:

"but now this DVD they have made for the people of Kirkby completely contradicts that, saying The stadium will put Kirkby on the map. Ridiculous."

Your going back to old arguements and technically a place that is within a city can also be "put on the map" so to speak i.e. a place to go within the city.

Shock, horror. KEIOC put a bias spin on recent event, ignoring any facts that don't favour them.

At only four weeks old Kirkby’s new political party “1st 4 Kirkby” have firmly put themselves on the political map after putting up a fantastic fight in this traditionally staunch Labour stronghold.
Then you observe the facts from the Liverpool Echo

http://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/live...verton-protesters-in-knowsley-64375-20851671/
Campaigners against the stadium application formed the single issue political party 1st4Kirkby. But the expected shocks failed to materialise. None of the new party managed to steal a seat from the sitting council members.
Cllr Eddie Connor, cabinet member for Leisure, standing in Northwood, celebrated a resounding victory over the Lib- Dems’ Sarah Wynn. He polled 791 votes to 198.
Cllr Jackie Harris, executive member for community safety, hauled in 722 votes, more than doubling the total polled by Tony Barton, 1st4Kirkby leader and former Labour executive Peter Fisher.
1st4Kirkby candidate in Whitefield, Jennifer Wharton, pushed Labour the closest, getting within 17 votes of new Labour candidate Ros Smith.
The third 1st4Kirkby candidate, Ann Murphy, lost out by close to 150 votes to Labour’s Edward Grannell, in Cherryfield, where much of the proposed development will take place.
So, facts are, the Majority of Kirkby are in favour of the Kirkby move.

so the fact that, apparently, more people in those wards supported parties opposed to the proposal than supported parties in favour counts as a mandate in favour? that's a curious perspective.

by the way, how a "party" of about 4 weeks of age taking almost half the vote & coming within a handful of votes of winning a seat, doesn't qualify as a "shock" is also a rather curious take on what happened yesterday.

1st 4 Kirkby becoming the second most voted for political party in Kirkby after 4 weeks in existence is a fantastic effort. Let's hope it will be registered by Knowsley MBC and their masters Tesco...and if not by them, then by the Sec of State who - so she says - likes to encourage local political 'engagement'.

I already new it was going to be a retail park, anyway, check my previous posts on other topics - im just expresssing my dismay at it.

21% behind the eventual Labour winner, hardly something to celebrate and i doubt the council are that worried about it neither. Onwards to kirkby

Its getting a bit embarassing now, its conspiracy theorists gone mad. F'[Poor language removed] sake they had a vote and the majority voted for it.

If it goes ahead sound, if it doesnt then sound. Everyone just stop being teds about it and believing blatant hyperbole.

 you're a bit late - how else d'you think they would have got their "majority"?

Are you still sticking to the supposed "neutral", or whatever it was you claimed you were , standpoint Dennis? Onlyh asking because it's quite clear your completely against the move.
