2025/26 David Moyes

Might as well quote the rest of that . . . Y'know, just for balance 🤷‍♂️
"It was how he ran the club day to day. He had a very clear sense of what was going on, and there was a calm authority about him. People listened because they trusted him, not because they had to."
Bill Kenwright definitely trusted him.

I know he is and he hasn’t helped himself in that regard but goes to show he’s doing a decent job. The whole job is bigger than our fans are letting on. Dibling, Barry, Aznou and Rohl wasn’t his first choices. Dibling was his 4th choice for that position. Barry was his third choice option for a striker, funnily enough Etikite, Delap and Woltmede were his choices for a forward. Forfana, the lad who went to juventus, and two others who Moyes wanted. He wanted soucek over Rohl. Wanted Nathan Ake over Aznou. Probably a reason why they haven’t played as much as people want.
We don’t know if Moyes wanted them or the committee wanted them . and there’s not a chance we were getting Etikite and woltemade
Moyes wanted soucek , McGinn, in January he was looking at sterling and Callum Wilson. And he was definitely looking at Omari Hutchinson before Dibling

I get the, they’re planning for the summer so Moyes must be staying , but I don’t think that means it’s a certainty he stays, as the committee will also have players in lists and will be pursuing some of their choices.

I think it will be a dam shame if we let Iraola go to Palace

How can they be duds if he didn’t get his signings he wanted? He had to compromise on signings, hence why majority haven’t kicked a ball. I’m not saying we had a chance of signing Etikite but that was Moyes dream signing for the striker position.

they have been poor with the teams they signed for.
Rohl has shown in his limited time on the pitch that moyes should have been more willing to use the 'compromise signings', the fact he refused to barely even try develop them into the squad is one of the many reasons hes always just been a slightly above average manager.

According to the bobble and his team on his podcasts, Etikite, delap and woltmede were the choices over Barry in the summer. Etikite and Woltmede were no goes from the beginning. Delap was still a chance til he agreed to join Chelsea. In January just gone, they was looking at Tammy Abraham and Harry Wilson. Abraham made it clear he wanted Villa from the get go. Wilson would have come if they agreed a fee with Fulham. Wilson will now likely sign for Villa in the summer now. They was also looking at right backs in January but agreed that the players available wouldn’t have made much of a difference. Wasn’t McGinn and Soucek in the last summer window?

Hutchinson and McAtee were the other two right sided players they was looking at. Both were considered but the transfer fees weren’t considered good enough. Hence why they went with Dibling. Pretty sure City wanted like a 25% sell on fee as well £35m.

Hopefully we are now in a much better position to recruit the clubs first choice targets in the summer and get them early. Hopefully we can have a right attack at finishing in those European places next season and be comfortable doing so.

Definitely according who?

the majority of links we see are made up guff by the media because they need to make clicks or because the manager has managed them before. Doesn’t mean anything has genuinely happened.

But at the same time, I’d be disappointed in our whole set up if we weren’t running the rule over hundreds of players every window

" he wanted Soucek over Rohl"....sorry, just threw up a little in my mouth reading that. If Moyes has final say on transfers, we will be the MLS of the EPL..a place where aging professionals can go for one last big money deal. The age of tge squad and size of those contracts will hurt us for yearz
