2025/26 David Moyes

Didn't want him, he's done a decent job as far as it goes, but won't progress us much from here, don't trust him to oversee a big transfer window...so, still don't want him. I'd add the caveat, if he gets Europe he should be given next season. I think that's a big if though.

This thread is pure gold at the moment.

It`s a bank holiday Sunday, and some posters are saying to themselves " The first thing I`m going to do today, is log onto GOT and start [Poor language removed] posting in the Moyes thread "

No, you misunderstand.

Stability itself is not the desired outcome. Trophies and success are the desired outcome.

But are we likely to do all that after the last five years of abject crap?

No.

So we need this period of stability to use a springboard for future success. I fail to see why some people cannot fathom this.
I understand that we've won nothing since 1995 and it's now at the point where fans like yourself have no desire for us to try and win anything. You just want 'stability' which basically means nothing because there's no such thing in premier league football.

Keeping Moyes for another season and playing the same old players week after week is anything but stable anyway. We're going to be in a complete mess if he stays and continues to neglect youth while playing pensioners who don't deserve a place in the team. When he eventually gets sacked we're gonna be left with a squad of younger players who can't wait to leave and a load of players in their mid 30's who aren't good enough. That's basically where we are now and another season of it is going to put us back where we've been for the last 5 years.

I'd rather we had a go at doing something and get relegated than just exist as a club who makes up the numbers but wins nothing.

Waving flags and setting off blue flares isn't winning us any trophies.

Our current trajectory is sadly looking like 14th or 15th.
Massive cock ups this season in recruitment leaving us with expensive sub standard players and a embarrassingly threadbare squad during Afcon. Forfeiting the cups early doors. Same stubborn playing for draws before wins. Not really pushed on from last year and spent a fair bit. If he stays can't see anything different next year- Safe from relegation/ mid table doldrums - possibly what our Roma-centric absentee owners are happy with.

He has done a decent job, didn't want him back really,
But he has brought stability to the club, let's not quickly forget just how crap we have been the last few years.
He lost a lot of players the end of the last season as well.
Deserves next season at least.
Going forward we have the same problem we had last time he was here, just doesn't go for it the wolves game in the cup
Was a big mistake.
Should spend the next season getting ready to take the next step with a progressive manager, unless Moyes has a good session next year that is

Have a look on Google Espana what “when you’re in a hole, stop digging” means.
Digging for what,it's as simple as TFG not having the will (or the ability within the new financial rules) to invest what's necessary to drastically improve the squad in one window and the limited availability of managers who'd do a significantly better job than Moyes. Now if Guardiola comes out next week and states he wants a new challenge and it's to take a mid-table team all the way to a CL final nobody will be happier than me.

Why bother attempting to sign another manager, let's keep Moyes.

Contract for life please.

Mmmmm Yummy gruel 4 life.
Just come up with a realistic alternative who'd get us into Europe with what would be basically this squad. Ancelotti couldn't do it with arguably a better squad. I mean since Moyes MK1 we've done so well with managers.
