2025/26 David Moyes

Our previous CEO's have worked over multiple Managers.
You always have to back the manager you are bringing in to start with, or why are you bringing them in. But he is the one that should be looking in depth to what the Manager is serving up, The CEO isn't there to kiss the backside of the Manager, he's there to make sure the club are heading in the right direction.

We've already had one mess of a window, his job will be on the line if he backs another mess of a spend.

As the CEO of the company he is everyone’s boss other than the Friedkins. He oversees every department of the football club, which includes the recruitment team that he hired. The buck ultimately stops with him if a department is consistently underperforming.

We need some fundamental radical changes in the team.

We need to move to a pacey CB pairing, JOB and Branthwaite plus probably another CB to cover if they’re injured. Tarkwoski has been monumental for us in battling relegation but if we want to move forward the back two can’t be Tarkwoski and Keane. The fullbacks also can’t be Mykolenko and JOB so we need to gamble on dismantling what has been a good defence in the hope of creating a better overall team with pace and technique in every position.

Idrissa Gueye needs to be dropped. I’m sorry I know that’s blasphemy on here but successful PL sides don’t have 37 year olds playing 95 mins every single week. He’s chasing shadows and ceding territory every week. He sometimes nicks the ball back in a later phase of the play and people clap for it but he already lost the territorial battle a few moves ago and we’re under pressure. He’s not a top midfielder and can’t compete with the best in the league anymore. He wasn’t good enough that day Coutinho danced round him at Anfield and that was 8 years ago.

Pace needs to be added on the flanks. Grealish and Ndiaye are great but look at Bayern PSG Barcelona Arsenal, the best teams in Europe don’t have slow tricky players who cut inside and slow the game down.

We need to spend big on a genuine top class striker. Is Moyes confident enough to do it?

If we want to push on and make strides we need to be bold, just tinkering with this team and going again next season will end up with exactly the same outcome.
I know what we need and what I want to see us focusing on, but other than the endless gaff rumours on here we don't actually know the transfer priorities.
If we aren't focusing on the obvious holes with the right profile to fill those holes than I don't want him touching the money..

We would end up handing over a bloated squad with no real identity.

Do you think Moyes can attract players of the calibre we need with the likelihood of no European football next season? He presumably doesn't believe he can because he pretty much blames the last Summer recruitment campaign on players turning us down as we weren't in Europe.
And guess what - it's increasingly likely we've blown the golden chance of European football despite it being given to us on a plate.
There are 2 ways to attract players. One is to offer them European football. The other is to sell them a vision of where the club is going. Currently we do neither, and unless we qualify for Europe or employ a manager players want to sign for next season will be another frustrating one.

This season if Grealish had stayed fit and with a few different VAR decisions we could have still been in the mix. I'm not Moyes's biggest fan and can see his obvious faults as a manager but with a squad of players none of whom are good enough to be regular starters in any of the top six teams he's done as well as any manager could have done. And the question remains, who could we realistically attract to replace him who'd do a better job with this group of players?

If my Auntie had wheels she would be a bike.

More excuses is all I see here.

Did he authorise them? There's been a lot of contradictory information on that subject. Paying the amount we did for Dibling is so not a Moyes type deal.
Could you please write a list of the players Moyes signed in the summer and then a second list of the players he was lumbered with due to nameless incompetents in the shadows so we all have complete clarity on who signed who despite Moyes regularly stating publicly that he has the final sign off on all players. Thanks in advance.

But still no mention of who you'd replace him with (realistically). I'd love a manager who'd have been able to play expansive winning football with this squad.

It's what he does. If he points out how close we are to doom with regularity, when he finishes mid-table he can tell us how lucky we are to have him to save us. And his fanboys will lap it up.
Yes agree and some people lap it up and say how grateful we should be.
They need to look in the trophy cabinet and see where we were before BK and DM joined the club, and how we need to be looking up not down.

Who really knows what goes on in the transfer committee meetings. Would Moyes really come out and say he has little to no input in transfer transactions? Saying that I've never seen a verified link showing him clearly stating he does have the final say.

I’m going to guess you’ve never actually looked…
