2025/26 Michael Vincent Keane

Listen to Kinnear’s interviews. World class manager, hardly any players good enough for Moyes, best in class operators etc. (can’t remember exact wording but it was something like that)

Just doling out extensions to Keane and Gueye and not being able to find a single fullback, centreback, or natural wide right player in the whole of football doesn’t scream raising standards.

It’s all fun and games with Keane until he’s in the first team and with Branthwaite injury record and OBrien at right back that will happen more often than not.

I’d rather not because the fella talks absolute log for a living.

Extending Keane after his last contract ran out was ridiculous, doing it again is just stupid.

He wouldn’t play for any top half PL team.

Jobs for all the ‘good characters’ at Everton though.

Seriously 10 years, he’d be getting a testimonial. A decade of Michael Keane when he’s been absolute toilet for the majority of it except for a couple of half seasons when he was ‘playing well for him’

Everything wrong with Everton

Let’s extend Dwight whilst we’re at it as well, I’ve heard he’s a dead good lad also.

Tells you all you need to know about this summer's transfer window.

Dont expect much.

Keane is not a first choice or first off the bench choice for a team challenging for Europe

But he’s proven this season to be adequate when needed. He’s limited, but given Branthwaites ongoing issues, to sign him for another season probably isn’t the worst piece of business

What we really need is a RB that allows JOB to be the CB when JB is out. Hopefully this steels our focus on that position being number 1 this summer

Around this time last season, Tarkowski got done by a long term hamstring injury.
Branthwaite has just been crocked for the rest of the season.

And people are complaining that we have cover and want specialised cover to carry on into next season?

Letting him leave, for free means finding the cash for someone else and getting them to actually sign. Then playing them enough to fit in with what we have.

And people are complaining.

Yet want first eleven signings in numerous positions and potential cover as well as. (oh how an Oviedo type all rounder would be useful).

It's almost as though some people are only happy with the oxygen of complaining and criticising.

Keane as a 4th choice CB free transfer isn’t bad business. Not his fault our other CB’s are injured as much as they are.

Especially when we need new full backs, strikers and others along with PSR.

Honestly given this squads ability to defend with whoever is playing, with our relative resources, CB just simply isn’t a position we need to splash cash on

We do, however, need to splash cash on other areas, like striker and RB

We aren’t City. We need to be smart about how we allocate resources

Am sat on the fence with this decision. £70k - £80k a week for an extra 12 months? Think it's a big outlay for the quality he brings to the squad at this time.
