David Moyes thinks Fellaini could become Cahill's long term replacement in the hole.

Negative reaction: Barkley should be given an opportunity in that role, and Felli is one of the best defensive mids in the game.

Positive reaction: We did play well with him further upfield, and by playing him in that role, it allows us to play Rodwell, Gibson, and Fellaini at the same time, assuming Rodders can stay healthy.

The only positive is it may allow Rodwell to play a box to box role, with Gibson sitting. He may come out of his shell and start to fulfil his potential.

My worry, is where does the creativity come from? Pienaar needs to be signed, for sure. But that means we badly need a right winger, or at the very least Barkley to start there.

My god that so disappoint's me and tbh I saw it coming a mile off!

As someone else touched on the reason fellaini has looked good there in ACM is because he has a good touch, link up play ect which Cahill has not got at all. We have been starved of that sort of player in ACM for years.

Fellaini can play there no doubt but it's not his strongest possistion. He's a cm player IMO. He can't shoot and doesn't play killer balls. Again as said " IF" Barkley progresses as everyone is hoping HE is the perfect player for there! Leave fellaini in cm with Gibson where he is best!

When we've been positive, the creativity has come from Pienaar, Donovan, Drenthe, Osman etc. Not necessarily in the middle. Moyes favors the wide players who drift into the middle, which suits Barkley imo.

Surprised at how badly people are against this. Look at the amount of goals he's been involved in when he's been in and around the box since he's played further forward. Off the top of my head I can straight away list jelavic v sland, jelavic v swansea, pienaar v united, pienaar v newcastle and his goal v united. There's probably more. He's always all over the shop tackling people wherever he plays, this just adds the licence to go forward.

I don't want him at DM at all. Been saying it for months. We've got Gibson now. We don't need another. He's no Messi but to say he's not creative is harsh. He has been heavily involved in a lot of goals i.e. he has been creative.

That said, ideally I'd like him in the middle of the three CMs with someone else in the Cahill role.

Buy a proper right winger and stick Osman up there Moyes you bad meff.

Felli up there = long ball.

Well if we don't do this, there is no place for Rodwell. He can't play on the wing. Barkley can. So it's possible this is the plan. I'd personally prefer to keep Felli and Gibson where they are and put Barkley in te hole and get some wingers, but that may not be feasible. So to be honest, it's not a bad option given limited resources.

He is not creative. He is not a good enough attacking player to be playing in the hole. There's no reason whatsoever why he can't still push up while having a CAM ahead of him, as he has done plenty with Cahill and a striker in the side.

He's scored about 4 goals in 2 years and he can't shoot from range, which of the top 6 teams do you know who play a 'CAM' who can't play through balls and can't shoot very well ?

It's MADNESS

Fellaini as long term Cahill successor puts the nails in the coffin for Barkley starting there.

The way that Barkley has been played in reserves etc it looks like he isn't seen as an ACM more an all around CM. We'll see where he end up playing in 12/13. Probably rightback...

Let's hope Moyes knows what he's doing...

The real problem is that he isn't seen as someone wearing an Everton shirt for much longer.
