David Moyes thinks Fellaini could become Cahill's long term replacement in the hole.

Brennan

Player Valuation: £90m
"Marouane is probably seen as more of a defensive midfield player," explained Moyes. "But he's far better when he's joining in and getting forward because he can do a bit of everything.
"He plays for Belgium as one of a three-man midfield. For us, we've tended to play with two midfield players and one ahead - in the main, that has been Tim"
"But I've always known that Marouane can do that job. We had just been looking at the right time to do that."

The reason he looks good there, is because he actually has more than a teaspoon of technical ability, unlike our current incumbent of the attacking midfield position. Fellaini is far too good in the middle to be that far forward, but you'd get similar effect to what he has just by not having Tim "Leave him alone, he runs a lot" Cahill there.

If we keep playing like we did towards the end of the season when he was there then why not?

I mean we'll need someone else to play alongside Gibbo, but Fellaini seemed just as dominant playing off Jelavic as when he was further back on the pitch.

moyes you moron, he just wants to say that so he can buy another defensive mid, or revert to playing neville, heitinga there. I know rodwell can as well but he's injury prone. ffs moyes, he cant shoot well enough and can't play enough through balls

He's not creative enough and he can't shoot well enough to be in that position in the modern game, not if we ever hope to be top 6 material.

you've struck gold there, move Felli upfront and he will never have to drop Neville ever again

Cheers Oxon.

A cynic would say this gets another DM on the field or allows them to play hoofball.

If you're unbiased, I don't think you can say that, however, given the results and Fellaini's play in the box (vision, passing, touch).

Count me as one of those who thinks he's better the closer to goal he is.

He's put in some masterful performances in a defensive or deeper role. He's also had serious concentration lapses there.

Oh dear. Lets put one of the best defensive mids in the world in attacking mid.

Such a cop out for not having the balls to ever buy/play a creative attacking mid. Barkley would actually be perfect there.
