I don't think many people are actively against it, it just seems a bit 'meh'. I will have seen him play but have no recollection of it so i'm not trying to say he's useless or anything, but on paper it just doesn't really seem like a deal that's really worth doing. Obviously you never know, he could come here and be incredible, but we're just commenting on things as we see them aren't we. I'm also slightly wary of the fact that there hasn't been much to suggest it's just a straight loan - it seems like we wouldn't necessarily be averse to making a permanent deal in theory and that is obviously a different kettle of fish. There are legitimate reasons for us to not want the club to spend £20m on a journeyman 29 year old striker.
Yeah, i dont want cash spent and a contract handed to a striker when Moyes only has 12months left on his contract.

Option to buy means nothing, nearly every loan is giving you an option to make it permanent.

Just that term being added, suddenly worry's people..

We've wasted the best part of £80m on complete no mark strikers in Tosun, Beto and Barry. £20m for a proven goal scorer is peanuts. The guy is a year older than KDH and two years younger than Louis Saha when he joined us. He will do a job for us for 3 or 4 years and allow us to spend our budget in other areas where we will get more bang for our buck.

But signing him permanently wouldn't be out of character with the type of thing we do, that's the point. Of course option to buy doesn't mean we will definitely buy him, but there's been nothing to suggest we don't intend to buy him either, so it will obviously be factored into people's thinking. There's always the concern with this type of thing that he does reasonably well on loan and convinces them to do the deal but then it isn't sustained, it's certainly something that's worth bearing in mind.

It depends what you class as a proven goalscorer I suppose. He spent 8 years in a top 5 league and scored double figures twice (for comparison Beto and Barry had spent 3 years in top 5 leagues between them before moving here and had a 100% record of reaching double figures), we're not exactly talking about Harry Kane here.

He has a better than 1 in 3 record in Spain over a 5 year period. I'd say that's a proven goal scorer whilst recognising that he isn't Lukaku or even the Yak. I have no idea if he can replicate that here and I've never watched him play.

Are we even in for this feller?

If his biggest strength is his heading, realistly you would be looking at quicker build up, and getting crosses in earlier..

With us you never know, but that is another option of moving forward with some pace..

You have no idea if he can replicate it and you've never seen him play, but you assert that he'll do a job for us for 3-4 years? I am confused.

His league record in Spain is 68 goals in 230 appearances, so not better than 1 in 3. Again, i'm not saying this to say he's crap and we shouldn't go anywhere near him, I'm just saying let's not go down the same route we often do of convincing ourselves that things are much better ideas than they actually are. He has an 'ok' scoring record over his career (as do Beto and Barry, as I said) there's no need to make out he's something he's not.

Yes very uninspiring. And I doubt he will be some Major success in the premier league. 28 in the Turkish league, just smacks of another 20mil journeyman

We don't do quicker sadly

He's got a better record than both Barry and Beto, he's done it for longer in better leagues. Not every signing needs to be NDiaye to take us forward. If Moyes rates him and we can get him on a loan then its a no brainer.
