They got tired of dealing with someone who had turned down contracts twice before and didn't want to consider us until he entered the last month and the recruitment team had already planned ahead.

That's on him and his agent for leaving it last minute.

The club was forced to when they had two contracts rejected and no indications he wanted to stay until June.

It does matter.

If one of our 30 million strikers wasn't crap nobody would be pining for him. It's all just the benefits of hindsight.

You can't defend 16 goals in four years and say that deserved rewarding with a wage increase.

But that's just it - they are. As is every striker we've signed the past decade with the exception of Lukaku, and Calvert-Lewin.

It wasn't a difficult issue to see coming.

Considering where we were last summer, I'd have kept him and signed pace out wide, and some full backs before trying to replace him - it's not as easy as people make out - as I keep saying, heck the list of every striker we've signed the past decade and there's 2 that have been capable of scoring goals to any worthwhile standard - Lukaku, and Calvert-Lewin.

Do you still think Barry/Beto will score more goals than DCL, like you were trying to tell us? Will either score 10 goals?

And like politely, I did a list of strikers/attackers we have had post Lukaku. Outside of Richarlison, nobody is even close to DCL.

So it was very obvious it would be difficult to replace him. Once you let go of your biases.

Moyes/Everton had a choice, and they made the decision to try and sign someone better than Calvert-Lewin.

Currently, it's looking like they failed with that. Currently.

Football moves quick, just a couple of months ago you was in this thread gloating that we could add Daniel Farke to the list of managers who couldn't get anything from him. Maybe in a few more months, Beto is close to them 17 goals you expected him to score, an Calvert-Lewin is injured.

Im referring to the discussion this summer that you seemed certain of.

Sometimes it's just easier to admit you were wrong about a player. Let the grudge go. He's always been a very good player when fit. It's very obvious.

I think the point is, we could have probably kept DCL and 1 or 2 others to make the summers work a bit easier?

Could that 30m have been better spent on say a right back and say number 6 or backup centre back?
