Bad ref decisions - for and against - season 2025/26

The idea that the PL are panicked that 11th placed Everton, coming off the back of 2 defeats, need to be restricted to a point at 19th placed Burnley or the entire empire could crumble seems just a little bit far fetched, I have to say.

I mean, yeah, but we can all agree the last 2 games have highlighted the sheer inconsistency of officiating and VAR?

Btw, in an ideal world, neither the Barry incident against Arsenal nor yesterday's pen shout would be pens. Just infuriating to see them given for other teams.

There’s no doubt it’s inconsistent, it always has been and always will be. I also think that to a certain extent there is a (probably unconscious) bias towards certain teams. When people start suggesting it’s some sort of conspiracy though - against specifically us for no apparent reason whatsoever - it gets a bit embarrassing.

As an aside, your later post isn’t actually them contradicting themselves. This is effectively the equivalent of ‘umpires call’ in cricket (which people often say we should have in football), the referee has made a decision in each case, and VAR has deemed that decision to be justifiable. It doesn’t mean they think it’s indisputably the right decision, just that they don’t think it warrants overruling.

Not a pen in my world mate but see below

They have contradicted themselves.
Thats a fair point. What i would say is that its a var problem. The issue is that because the handball rule is subjective in many circumstances then var should do more to intervene if it doesnt meet the threshold. Because var has to he clear and obvious they cant overturn the kdh one but really they should on the basis of distance, ball travel speed and hands being in a natural position for the movement. Its not corrupt or anything like that, its simply unfortunate

Why do people keep acting like that should have been a penalty yesterday. It wasnt....
We have conceded 2 penalties in near identical scenarios. That's why I expect to be awarded a penalty

Same as last week. We have given away penalties very similar to the one we didn't get against Arsenal.

The bar for Everton to get a penalty is clearly much higher than other teams.

Defo didn’t move his hand towards the ball 🤥
Was too far away to react 🤥🤥
Hand was in an entirely natural position 🤥🤥🤥

It's laughable really. I thought it was a pen instantly due to Diblings reaction, I 100% just waited for it to go to VAR screen once I'd seen the replay and nearly pissed myself laughing when it was cleared.

Dont worry, it's only Burnley v Everton, it's not a high profile game and we all know when decisions go against Everton, they haven't got the bottle to make a complaint about it.

And to add insult to injury they will wheel out that baldy arl 🏐 👜 on Sky to justify it.

It’s not even about should it or shouldn’t it be for me, it’s the inconsistency that I find most frustrating.

Care to explain the difference with these then?

MOTD was hilarious, listening to the fat head Rooney wax lyrical about Wirtz for 5 minutes (100% the producer was in his ear piece telling him to big up Wirtz for as long as possible) yet when it came to Everton "yeah Wayne, talk about how that was 2pts dropped for Burnley but don't discuss the pen".

It's laughable. It happens far too many times at Everton because we allow it, we're just a timid, weak football club still trying to find it's backbone which went missing nearly 40 years ago.
