2025/26 David Moyes

It’s a real shame Moyes left just before the money train arrived. We’d have been much higher and probably would have gotten some silverware.
It has yet to be demonstrated that Moyes with money is better than Moyes without money. Apart from Bowen & Yak his striker purchases have been poor & his propensity for older experienced players is not a blueprint for success in our previous or current situation.

Rough calculation, besides the league championship, the fa cup and the league cup, Mr Moyes has also failed in 42 other competitions.

Where's the Benin amateur locals only cup Mr Moyes?
And there must be a competition in Japan he's responsible for not taking serious.

Moyes isn’t here without the Friedkins. The takeover changed everything. No Moyes, no KDH, no Grealish, no Branthwaite, probably no Ndiaye, perhaps no Pickford. We were a debt ridden basket case before they stepped in.
And it was Moyes coaching that turned it around from the relegation battles we were in.

In 12 months we have improved 5 places in the league and 8 points on the total.

People getting upset because they feel entitled to faster progress than that need to have a reality check.

Moyes with money saw him sign Toni Kroos. The transfer was cancelled, of course. But the buying of Fellaini for us on a large fee was a very good piece of business.

I’d rather a manager who can sign good defenders, midfielders and wingers even if he maybe struggles on strikers. That way you’ll still build a formidable side.

I would actually rather qualify for the Champions League than win a cup. The reason is it brings in massive revenue which gives the team a platform to build and achieve further success.

It would be a much bigger deal than winning the League Cup. The FA Cup is special, so that would be a harder decision.

Ultimately though, I think you get more benefits from Champions League qualification than winning a cup. It raises the club’s profile on an international level, and that is more important than ever in the modern game.

You must say that as someone who saw us win trophies in the past. Don't think anyone under the age of 35 would pass up winning a trophy. Couldn't care less about the 'modern game'. Watching us embarrass ourselves in a bloated competition is not something I'll look back and smile about in years to come.

He’s right up your street then.

A murder in broad daylight this.

This is what 12 months of Moyes spoiling has done to you all.

Now it's Champions League or he needs to be sacked.... Shame

I don’t buy that as he almost came back several times before the Friedkins. I could see him coming back even if we had been relegated, for example, as he does have a genuine affinity for the club.

(As much as some people like to pretend he doesn’t)

We wouldn’t embarrass ourselves. But we would make a lot of money which would allow us to build and become stronger and become durable competitors rather than just being flashes in the pan. Look at how much it has benefited Aston Villa.

You can take the piss and argue amongst yourselves all you like. David Moyes not winning a single domestic trophy in 30+ years of management would be absolutely tragic on his part.

I'd rather us not win a cup than have the subsequent fallout of Wigan, Swansea, Birmingham, Middlesbrough etc al. Cups aren't won on the law of averages they have typically been won by the better/best teams in the league.
We were beaten by Fiorentina over 2 legs as we weren't good enough - to then suggest we would have simply got through the QF, SF and a final is all a nice picture in our heads.
They didn't get relegated because they won the cup though, another mute point.

We was more than good enough to beat Fiorentina, and should have. They got knocked out by Rangers who had an inferior squad to us. Go watch the 1st leg and watch the stupid long ball tactics they they ate up all game. We basically spent the whole game gifting them the ball.

After the Fiorentina game it's obviously conjecture, but we should have done better in that tournament and was more than capable of winning it. Wed already beaten the eventual winners earlier in the competition.
