What's your very earliest Everton related memory?

Not necessarily a game/match,I'd have to say mine are probably when I was maybe two or three, sat on my old fellas knee he would put one hand under his armpit and chant at me "Liverpool, Liverpool, under the arm",then the "we hate Nottingham Forest" song(I never really got why we should hate them back then😂I know of the current dislike😂),"rah, rah, rah, rah Morrissey"in honour of Johnny 💙I also remember if I wouldn't eat my veg,he's stick the food on my fork and commentate,"Morrissey going down the wing, centres for Joe Royle to head,it's going in(at which point i'd open my gob wide open😂)and GOAL,food had been gobbled up😂(this process went on until I was 35😉😂😂)anyhow thanks Dad I wonder where my love for this grand old club came from eh?😉😂💙👍

1986 cup final, I was nine in South Wales, my mate called for me about mid day and I said 'I can't come out and play I'm watching Everton get on the bus'. Once they were on I went out and forgot the game was even happening cos being out adventuring at 9 is even better than footie.

Within twelve months footie had a grip on me to the extent that I listened to the radio with white fear every Saturday afternoon and if Everton won I was in a state of delerium for about 48 hours. I almost physically imploded with happiness after the Wayne Clarke derby in '88. Footie can't do that to me anymore cos I'm 48 and so the players are now kids rather than heroes/gods and I sometimes feel sad about that!

….i was an 11yo at that ‘68 final. On the Blackpool theme, for some reason I have a vivid recollection of Emlyn Hughes playing LB for Blackpool at Goodison. Can’t recall the year but he left in ‘67.

About five years ago I found this picture of the ‘68 final, that’s me and my Grandad in the “blue” circle! My Dad and Uncle were on the terraces with the hoards of Everton fans!

Despite having a football daft father (both playing and watching) I had zero interest in football when I was very young so knew absolutely nothing about Everton (or Liverpool for that matter) which means I have no memories at all of them until my dad took me to my first game when I was 7. We played Birmingham in December 1976, and although we didn't win (Birmingham scored a last minute equaliser) I was hooked. Sometimes though I wish he'd never taken me near the place and I could have spent my weekends blissfully not worrying about them! An uncle of mine who was a red then started taking me to the odd game here and there at Anfield along with a couple of my cousins in that era when they were just about to really start dominating at home and in Europe, but despite their success I felt absolutely nothing for them, even at that young age I knew that Everton was my team.
