2025/26 James Tarkowski

The very best centre halves are more often than not horrible thuggish s-houses, see Ramos, Pepe, Chiellini etc. and very often they got away with it, it's a very difficult and fine art to master but it's a valid tactic to get an edge over your opponents all the same. Would people prefer we had 2 soft lads at centre half who opposition forwards don't have any fear going up against?

Imagine we still had Yerry Mina who had his own brand of classic South American s-housery and his legs weren't made of biscuits. Strikers would absolutely hate coming to play us

Did N'Doye even make it out the changies after half time? He shrank, when he has the skill and pace to go at Tarks. If he was an Everton player we'd be disgusted
This is something I think people forget, especially if they haven’t played the game to a decent level growing up. The thing you don’t get from watching on tv or playing on video games is these are real people and getting smashed in the back or hit with a crunching tackle HURTS.

At the time I couldn’t understand why Tarks would react to a tussle like that but as you say the reason became clear for the whole rest of the game. Nobody dared go near him and a decent team played out their most cowardly performance of the season. My boss is a Forest fan and said that was the worst they’ve played all season because we wanted it more all over the pitch and said Dyche moaning about Tarks instead of talking about how his team wimped out of the battle is shocking (I told him Evertonians were not shocked to hear it and he won’t be the next time too!)

I don't mind a bit of snide and I don't want our players to be bullied but the way he does it is just stupid. He's completely reckless.

Early signals of the Dyche mentality being questioned. He’ll be gone by March.

I think we won the game because we wanted it more, do you not agree?
Their players are just as capable as ours but we have a better manager so had better tactics and we outfought them.
A part of us wanting it more is them wanting it less and they definitely didn’t want anything to do with Tarkowski did they?

So no, it didn’t win us the game, but it certainly helped more than hindered.

Well said Sir.

Everton set their stall out early, letting Forest know who was in charge and how things would work. Key players like Gibbs White didn’t want to know all afternoon. No shortage of skills on show, or effort, but the mental battle was well and truly won.
