What Did You Last Eat Thread

Pear sponge cake with custard.

Bloody lovely
One of the few fruits I don't like. Found a massive pear tree this summer with oodles of fruit. In a cemetery of all places ; tempted to do a liqueur, it's only vodka, pears and spices of your choosing, but thought better of it as not sure what it would taste like.

Have they removed the sugar from Butterscotch Angel Delight?

Seems to have the aftertaste of sweetener.

Things were better back in the old days, etc. etc. Derek Mountfield, pints of mild, cigar adverts with Russ Abbot etc.
Might try this.

Must admit I wouldn’t eat a pair out of the fruit bowl.
Not sure why the Mrs went with pear rather than apple or peach tbh.

It’s great but it’s changed - something is just not the same
I’d have a whole pack as a kid, eat with a teaspoon don’t lasted

I'd never want to be all middle aged bloke (but am frequently, it seems), but i don't get why they'd replace sugar in something that's meant to be pudding. Who's picking up an Angel Delight pack and thinking "this'll do for a healthy snack"?

Same happened with Sprite - there is no 'full fat' version and if you ask for lemonade in a restaurant you get given zero sugar Sprite. Come on, maaaan! I'm already not drinking so I can drive and the Mrs can have a couple of glasses of vino, can I not just get an old skool Sprite with 14 teaspoons of sugar? It's meant to be a treat.

Back on topic - tagliatelle bolognese. The Mrs doesn't eat red meat, so made with chicken mince rather than beef or pork. Do my best to get the salty, fatty flavour but it’s very difficult with chicken mice and had a habit of going rubbery.

Years ago my mother brought a bottle of Pear liqueur back from Sorrento. Not sure until I tried it - sweet but tasty.
