The Making of ‘The Golden Vision’ for the BBC ‘Wednesday Play’

Great article Steve👏👏👏👍getting to eventually see The Golden Vision was like a holy grail for me,my Dads all time favourite ever player,he’d seen the play originally,I was transfixed, yes it was of its time, but a time when we as a club bowed down to no-one,how I wish I’d been born a few years earlier to have enjoyed those “Golden” times myself!!!👍

The most adored EFC player even above bally I ever seen - yet his partner Roy Vernon was a far more consistent player - even in his stats Derek temple as a goal scorer was not far behind him - his flaxen hair his skill levels were on his day unbelievable on muddy pitches ...

He played in a charity game at South Liverpool April 1969, my uncle was the ref and got us all free tickets. I don’t remember much other than Ken Dodd pushing Dixie in a wheelbarrow to take the kick-off. Just found this via google

One of the scenes that struck me was the priest paying a visit to the house to ask why they were not attending church. Did that happen often at that time?
