RIP Mani x

RIP Mani, thoughts with his friends and family. Another good one gone far too soon.

Boss musician and sound fella, just proper normal working class bloke. Had the privilege of meeting him donkeys years ago.

Not one person has a bad word to say about him.

It always amazes me, that a very obviously sound fella, could put up with bellends like Ian Brown and Bobbie Gillespie.

Mind you, you could say that about a lot of front men, Bono, immediately springs to mind, as does Ian McCulloch.

The tambourine tapper, also.

Have you read his book ?

You`d have thought that whoever ghost wrote it for him, would`ve at least tried a bit, to make him come across as likeable, but he seems to revel in being an absolute horror. Ripping people off, using people etc, nothing seems to be beneath him.
There are a couple of quite insightful, thoughtful bits in his book, but my word it's hard going. Honestly mate, you weren't the first person to listen to the Elevators and Stooges and take ecstasy. Get over yourself. Insufferable prick. My mate Richard used to live near him and has a few stories I won't repeat here. Guy's a knob.

Saw him play with Primal Scream on the XTRMNTR album tour. His bass gave them propulsion. Grinned his way through the set, looked like he loved life and playing.
I saw this tour at Brixton Academy in 2000 (I think). The bassline of Shoot speed/kill light and swastika eyes in particular nearly blew my ears off, absolutely phenomenal.

Nope, not read it. The great Socialist that he paints himself as too.

Always came across as a bell in interviews.
