January Transfer Window 2026

We need to move away from obsessing over whoever has played well the last week in the champions league or the international break. If Everton have been planning moves in this window for McTominay or Parrot since summer ended then fair enough but we should not just base transfer activity on who had a good game and stole some headlines.

Who’s complaining, I just think he’s overrated by our fans, him
And KDH will never work as a pair. they maybe be ok keeping the ball, but will be getting bullied all over the place most weeks

We'd have to bring in a DM anchor to sit behind them.

I dont think they'd be bullied with 3 in the middle.

Only because they think he’s on a free. Or very cheap with a a year left, Newcastle want Elliot Anderson back and who’s the other team Villa?? He wont get anywhere near their starting 11

The balance would be good. Whether that would take us to the level of other sides, who knows?

Elliott Anderson will go for how much?

McTominay and a Parrot for Christmas please Davey lad.
Buying a striker based on goals from international games is doing ourselves a potential massive disservice. He got 14goals last season in the Netherlands, which might sound impressive until you remember its half the amount Vincent Janssen scored in the dutch league - a player borderline incapable of scoring in the PL.

so was it moyes or not?
Clearly it was, who do you think it was FFS!
If they’d have let Moyes spend we’d probably have a decent striker by now. Unfortunately our 30 man recruitment/DOF bods decided to get Barry.
Yeah because his transfer record on signing strikers is top notch! Given that Moyes insisted on ditching the DOF role and has final call on transfers I can't decide whether you're trying to be offensive or merely stupid.

Balance ??

In 2023 I posted about us adding KDH and going with;

LCM: KDH
DM: Onana
RCM: Garner

The way KDH plays would suit Garner well I think and yes, provide balance.

The safety net of Onana the Octopus who had the knack for interceptions would have covered the space behind them both.

Of course, upgrades could be made in all 3 areas but I think that would have a nice balance.

For a 'big' signing the DM position would be massive. This is why the top sides have been spending huge money on them. I liked Armstrong there as a mid term option after seeing him at Derby - but we'd need a starter who can both control the game and affect it defensively.

I don't see why not, we seem to use the same process for selecting managers!
