i can't believe people want Andy Johnson back again, strange, radzinski available too is he
btw pippo inzaghi is available on a freebut 1st lets get the 3 points today to help finish above the shoite and more importantly more income , wherever it may go
He's 31 now as well, surely not good business.
Well said foxwhy dont we just close the thread for today ,and get right behind the team ,instead of the doom and gloom
I would sell Anichebe, I wouldnt care who to or for how much, I would honestly give him away to ANYBODY.
I would do whatever it took to keep Pienaar, then I would alert every single media outlet to the fact that NOBODY on the Board at Everton has invested a single penny into the Club, then leave to go and Manage WBA.
The whole 'England' thing is rubbish. He'll be 30 by the time next season starts and he's hardly England's number one choice at the back.
If (God forbid) we sold Felli, Baines, Rodwell and Barkley, (In my imaginary FM terms) surely we'd get around £60-70m in transfer fees? If we got £40m of that to spend, I fancy Moyes' chances of bringing in good, if slightly inferior replacements while sorting out other issues e.g. right back, back up striker etc. Then, if we threw £30m at the debt we'd have a more deep, filled out squad, be in a much better financial state, paying less interest and thus, possibly more attractive to buyers/investors.
The problem with that is replacing Fellaini though. He's a one in a million player, for me. If there is any player we need to reject bids for, for under £25m, it's him. He's got pretty much everything and he's young and we should look to build the squad around him.
I'd rather we just sold Rodwell and Jags and possibly Baines if we absolutely have to. Can't see us getting much over £15m for Rodwell and Jags combined, however. Reports like the above will have richer clubs swarming thinking they can bargain buy.
The stunner in all this, is quite simply, Moyes doesnt rate him.
Everybody else who has watched this boy play says hes talented beyond utter talented and Moyes still plays McFadden instead of him, sometimes I wonder David, do you deserve me?
Everybody who is worried about Baines going should think about the interview Felli gave a few weeks ago where he said that he wanted ins this summer, and that he wanted the club to show it's commitment to moving forward.
Now with that in mind, imagine if Baines were to go in the Summer.
2 + 2.
"No plans to sell Felli, Baines and Barkley". Actually a bit relieved at the Barkley part tbh after the whispers going around suggesting possibly otherwise. Also, about Andy Johnson, he is a selfless runner who doesn't mind 4-5-1 and is a half decent finisher. I'd take him back as back up to Jelavic, no doubt. He's at least a 100% improvement on the Straq and still loves the club. Beggars can't be choosers. The other three are exactly what we need, for sure.
Why does he want Andy Johnson chasing corner flags again?
I know they hired Brad Pitt at the end of the movie but a lot of time has passed. They spend more money on players than almost anyone else and they have the seventh oldest team in the league -- the average age of the team is 29.5. There is no moneyball in Boston and spending 30m on overpriced garbage like the RS did is about the furthest thing from Moneyball they could have done. That's supposed to be JW Henry's policy isn't it ? one that he said he would instigate at the pit as he does it in Boston....without exception.
Players Out:
Jose Baxter (£500k-£1m) - I actually think the kid has talent, but he's lightweight. But his worst crime of all was crossing Moyes when he did his dodgy dealings in Kirkby. Once that occurred it was pretty much a cert that his Everton days were finished. I can imagine a big time Charlie Championship club swooping for him, someone like Leicester.
Jan Mucha (£1m) - He's remarkably cack, but still a Slovak international and there'll be a host of European no-marks willing to pay seven figures for his signature.
Victor Anichebe (£3-4m) - We know he's bad. Deep down, even he knows he's bad. But the Nigerian Football Association apparently don't and, combined with his age and top flight/European experience, we'd actually get decent wedge for him from an ambitious newly promoted club who play long ball - or Leicester, again. Blackburn or Bolton would be a distinct possibility. Either way, he's not good enough to shine Jelavic's boots.
Phil Neville (Anything. A bar of rock would do.) - Anyone who thinks this guy is worth £40-50k a week is either drunk, insane, both or simply lying. If we can mug someone for half a mill then we're in business. Unfortunately, this won't happen.
Phil Jagielka (£10m+ or no deal) - The big one. My logic is that Distin is still useful and wouldn't command a fee worth talking about, Heitinga is ace and Duffy is a tremendous prospect. Therefore, of our big assets who can be sold, Jags is the most expendable. And, sadly, we have to face reality - we have to get rid of one big name to fund the summer.
James McFadden - No explanation needed.
TOTAL: £15-18m
Players In
Steven Pienaar (£3-4m) - We have to bring him back, he's been top quality since coming back and proven me wrong in many respects. With the absence of Arteta he roams inside with a lot more freedom to be the creative fulcrum he can be, rather than simply a foil for Baines. Talk of £6m are way off as he's an unhappy player and Tottenham have to face up to losing him. No more than £4m. If Spurs play hard ball...
Robert Snodgrass (£3-4m) - ... then this guy is an option. With Leeds missing out on promotion by a mile, Snodgrass will finally get the chance to jump up to the Premier League without a ridiculous price tag on his shoulders. He's a really good little player, and whilst nowhere near in the class of Pienaar, he'd be a good option if the South African can't come to Goodison full time. Or if we want to go truly mental...
Adam Johnson (£8m+ or a season long loan) - Oozes class, but can't get in that City side. Would be a fantastic signing. Luckily Liverpool opted for the greasy pile of sh*te that is Downing so they can't really opt for him, and maybe a temporary move to Everton would be good for both parties.
Jelle Vossen (£5m+) - A top talent in Belgium at an underachieving Genk side. Vossen is highly coveted and he has been on the verge of a move to England a few times. With no capable cover for Jelavic other than the obviously unfancied Vellios, it would be a good signing in a position we are so lacking in that we have more first team goalscorers than strikers.
Other Areas Needing Improvement:
Right wing. Can't think of anyone though. Coleman isn't good enough and Osman is dreadful out there. Right back I think we can cope with (Coleman/Hibbert), left back is OK as we have seen Distin capable of doing a short term job there. So basically it's both wings and another striker.
