2026 FIFA World Cup

Not for me all this. I used to as a kid, but unfortunately this one more than ever seems to be far too political. I genuinely couldn't care any less for this.
I would normally start to look forward to a World Cup in earnest right about now - just before the draw and about six months out from kick off. Not any more.

The group stage draw is going to be more about which favourites are likely to be thrown into the same half of the knockout stage draw than it is the groups themselves. This group stage is going to be a farce, full of dire mismatches with little to no jeopardy for the giants. England 5-0 Uzbekistan holds little enjoyment for, dare I say it, even England fans. Three of the four teams will go through in most of the groups. You can probably lose your first two games and progress. Zero tension. It'll be an adventure for smaller countries and minnows, but the neutral will have little to get behind until, probably, the last 16. That's a lot of football matches and Trump's grid to take in before anything truly significant happens.

If ever a tournament needs dedicated daily highlight shows, it'll be this one, because sensible punters might be giving the live broadcasts a bit of a miss until things properly heat up.

There is only one single reason that they've expanded the format. They expect to make an extra $700m in ticket prices alone.

I hope beyond hope that it falls flat on its arse, but I hoped the same about Russia and Qatar. But unfortunately the draw for people to have their photo taken and shared on SM is far too large.

The world cup used to be the absolute pinnacle of football competition. Now it's a gentleman's club. Infantino is one of the single most corrupt, lickspittle individuals to walk the earth. Subservient to any ghoul with an ounce of power or influence.

The sooner hes gone, the better.

Who did he replace and was he to the same biggest burden on the game until then.
The role is the issue, like medieval battles for royalty, only the most cut throat, driven and murderous stand a chance at the business end of getting their hands on the throne.

I live near Toronto. There will be 6 or 7 games in Toronto. I have been checking the prices. For Canada's opening game, the cheapest tickets go from around one thousand pounds. For tickets to a game between 2 TBD teams, they start at around four hundred pounds. Also the Toronto stadium is a cheap stadium where they are adding temporary seats to bring it to forty odd thousand. I really doubt that I will be going.

You're absolutely right, the role is the issue. It takes a certain kind of person to even want to fill that role. Football needs to realise that its should be a force for social good, not for commercial greed. Unfortunately though, individuals with socialist ideals are neither interested, nor welcome in this particular non-for-profit organisation that has $3.2bn in reserves.

Infantino though has gone a step beyond and even further reduced democratic oversight within FIFA. Blatter was seemingly interested in the money that his power brought. Infantino seems more interested in the power that those with money offer.

Boycotted Qatar. I'll boycott this, well apart from laughing at whatever embarrassing cringe the fourth Reich delivers.
So 2030 before I watch one again and as for 2038 who's even eligible to host it after the corruption to fudge 2034 for the Saudis.

Nothing is as fun (or as good) as it used to be - nothing.

Our civilisation has built a future no one (other than billionaires) wanted.

Football and the World Cup are prime examples of this. As well as VAR completely changing the game, it simply isn’t as exciting as it used to be. You don’t get exciting players any more, it’s all pretty sterile.

It's a shame they couldn't play at the Skydome, right capacity, but wrong configuration and artificial turf. It is a great stadium though since the extensive renovations.

They used to play Canadian football in there so there was a seating setup and plenty of space for a pitch… but these last renovations made it a baseball-only facility.

He also likes the musk of a certain presidents arse. So much he invented a whole competition to get to stand by him, then when it was over, missing that eau de twot, he invented a fkn peace prize so he could be in its presence again.
