Everton Youth Teams Thread

There's no way we're 3rd, there are currently 4 teams with more points than us after today's games
Yeah the points total is right at 16 , but they’ve only got 8 games. down , they’ve missed the first match day out when we lost to Utd, so 5th looks right . I’m doubting everything now, Robert starting on the bench and scoring first goal seems odd. Oh for a club communications dept.

I am fairly certain Boggan is also left footed (in any tournament footage I’ve seen he sets up as a left CB or LB), and Evans has played RB occasionally so I might swap those two.

Brookes has played as an attacking playmaker before so I would assume he would be the furthest forward, or a 4-3-3 with Matos holding behind him and Oliyawola.

Great result!

We’re up to 3rd in one League table I use, PLs table is weird ,I think 3rd may be right but who knows.View attachment 332068
These are the team’s I found . Francis Boggan , 14 , starting at right back, it may be Harry Brookes ‘s first start ?, nearly 16 . I seem to remember him playing further forward in one of those u17 tournaments, so maybe switch him and Olayiwola around.

That looks to be the ending XI not starting. Mcelvey came on early first half for Gardner. Boggan and Brookes came off the bench in the 88th min for Robert and Pita.

Hmm, I posted with a view to see what others thought , but it’s difficult to respond to that. It comes across that you Googled Akarakiri and took Flashscores as your bible. There’s no context to these stats , and from your “ but” you appear to be taking them on face value and saying therefore he must be crap. I would guess that passing stats for say Eli Campbell and Harry Tyrer would be better , but it doesn’t mean they should be our u21 midfielders ie you can’t use passing stats alone to pick a player/ team.

None of those players on show the other night are going to play PL for us this season and if you say “ none ever will” , you’d likely be right 97% of the time. I’m pretty happy with my assessment that “ he’s quietly making progress “ and “ at 17 there’s plenty of potential there” . The next measure will be when Akarakiri starts an u21 PL2 game as opposed to a dead rubber game.
I watched the game while also having a look on flash scores, In the first 15 mins I saw a lad who struggled with a deep lying midfield role against experienced players who was getting caught on the ball. Paul Tait who gets constantly questioned on here had the sense to switch him and Bates from what I saw, better than hooking a young player who to that stage looked like a passenger. He was getting no help From Gomez who looks talented but lacks discipline for a midfielder pops up all over the pitch and when under pressure scoops passes and back heels to players under pressure already. Akarikiri was so far off it on tuesday, Patterson came on and settled things, he`s no superstar buat at least looks like he wants to play in a team.

Wherever he played, Boggan at 14 starting must be a rarity.

Any ideas when and who the last 14 year old was that started games at this level?

No idea really, back in the day Ryan Ledson was playing u21 at 15, so you’d think u18 earlier, Jonjoe Kenny too. Recently Jonathan Nsangou played u18 last season a few months after turning 15, and has played at u21 this season.

Actually looking at those highlights I don’t believe Boggan actually started, the only team sheet I saw was clearly not the starting 11. It looks like Pita was in the right back position at the start. On one site Boggan comes on for Pita at 46 mins, and it looks like him involved early on for the 4th goal out in the right back position.

Certainly hope our scouting department are at the under 17 world cup. Some gems to be had especially South American lads, so pacy. Michael Noonan from Shamrock Rovers looks like a natural born finisher, be very surprised if he isn't snapped up soon probably to the continent giving his age. Or hold out and wait until he's 18 and join an English club.
