Everton Youth Teams Thread

….don’t tell @Joey66, he wants them in the first team ;)
My older brother is watching this game on IPTV...he was disgusted with our events of last night 30 minutes of very good football then the backtrack into our half !
They were 1- 0 up while I was on the telephone....one in the first team would be a miracle under DM .... oh he sees him play at Preston :D

On the one hand yeah Tait has ran his race but on the other does anyone really care how this current 21s side is playing. There's not a single potential first teamer in it.
I care about how the u21 side plays, because even if there isn’t a clear first teamer in the mix (though there are a few that have an outside shot Ala Tamen/Thomas), we should still be developing sound footballers that should be attractive to clubs a step down. Simms/Cannon/Metcalfe weren’t EPL players, but still net us a few million. The transfer coffers don’t fill themselves.

And I would also like a professional group of proper players to surround the youngsters coming up that DO have a chance of making it.

He might well be making them a professional group and none of those players tonight are even close to Cannon/Metcalfe or Simms level. that squad tonight could have Guardiola coaching them and it would not really make the blindest bit of difference to the end result.

It's just a squad that we have to field in a dead rubber. Whether we played like prime Barcelona and won 6-0 didn't really matter.

Yeah I’m with you there, I care about the u21s and how they play . Players like Finney are nowhere near PL standard but he actually looks like a full back, we don’t have many of them under 30 who see full back as their proper position and work on improving. I like the fanciful idea of Tamen taking long throws in the PL though. Akarakiri has shown some bright moments too. It’s always been that way for me, just enjoy them when we can without really having great expectations about their path to the first team.

I was thinking about the game the other night, Demi Akarakiri is quietly making good progress. He’s under the radar with the likes of Graham and Clarke getting the headlines in his year. Quick skilful players who score goals or big strong defenders often stand out more, but midfielders going about their job , doing the basics well don’t get much attention, and having not long turned 17 there’s plenty of potential there for maybe a Price/ Armstrong progression or at least a Metcalfe/ Onyango level. A long way to go , and yes it is sometimes hope overriding expectations.

Just getting them ready to send out on loan - West ham played a younster = a win he was very good put a bit of pace in their midfield ...
