2025/26 David Moyes

let’s see if it works aye
I suppose it’ll depend on how we define it working. If we spawn a win like we did against Palace, and arguably Brighton, did it work? Unless we move the ball significantly quicker in attack and actually link our striker up rather than leave him looking lost up top then I don’t really think that can be classed as working.

It's as simple as this: he either gets results now with his methods - starting tonight - or the roof falls in on him.
He'll win tonight...somehow.

I certainly hope he does because we're sliding into familiar territory if we lose. And none of us need that.

But classic Moyes is to go to the brink and then, somehow, get a result when the backs are to the wall that starts a run to get us just out of danger and just out of contention for something better. It's Evertonian purgatory and he's a master of it.

For this season, sadly, it'll do. But we really need a reset next summer...

Classic Moyes, in terms of Everton is picking Everton up after years of mediocrity (97-02) and creating a solid top 8 team on a shoestring budget under Kenwright. Whilst I agree he should be under massive pressure, let’s not lie about how well he’s done for us.

He did very well for many years first time around under the charlatan. But he'd still bottle the key cup games against the likes of Reading or Wigan when silverware glinted. And those performances had nothing to do with being on a shoestring and everything to do with his caution and expectation-management.

He's not on a shoestring now and is paid very well. He needs a win tonight. I think he'll manage it.

Just seen it’s still the oldest average starting 11 in the league. We need to be playing younger quicker players. Gana is too slow, Tarkwoski is too slow, Keane is too slow, we’re too slow everywhere.

What was the point in buying Alcaraz Dibling Barry Rohl if we’re not going to build a team around them?

This is the biggest indictment of the manager - and the new ownership. We needed whatever money we spent this summer to go to the present - not the future.
