Reading the posts on here there are still a lot of people failing to realise what is happening at Sunderland, long may it continue. If fans and clubs continue to think we are in a false position they will not give us the respect this new team warrants and we will take advantage of that, look at Chelsea last week.

I am not saying that we are going to qualify for Europe, but equally we are not going to be in a relegation fight.

It will be a tight game but we are not a newly promoted side, we are a newly promoted club with a new team. There is a significant difference. Clubs who have come up to the EPL in recent years have, with the exception of Forest, bought tried and tested experienced PL players, also known as past it players in search of a last pay day, and added the best players from the Championship. This has failed.

What Sunderland have done is use the European market to identify young players with very high ceilings and more importantly the right attitudes. So with 15 new signings at a level well above those that Forest made, this is a totally different team to any of the recently promoted sides, which will get better as they play together .

So don’t fall into the trap of Sunderland being in a false position. In truth we have had a relatively easy set of fixtures so far, but we have exploited that to our advantage and no doubt we will lose games against the big boys of the league and slip back from where we are just now. But it is not a false position, it is the position any team expecting to finish mid table should be in with the fixtures we have had.

Feels like their could be alot of love and respect played out tonight.

Big night ahead..
We’re a club that respects most away fans - there isn’t an away fans pub really in Sunderland for example. You can drink anyway and will be welcomed.

But we really really like Everton as a fanbase. I suspect any of your fans drinking in the town will find a very warm welcome for what you’ve done as a club for us, as long as they behave themselves of course 😂

Football fans have a long memory, mostly about negative things! but sometimes for the good things that happen to us!
