It's more than that Zat. This kids already fantastic.
He's going to be incredible.
The big question is will it be with us and will it be same old Everton and cash in early?
There are a lot of factors to look at here but if Everton want to become a top 4 side then my approach would be to:
1: Invest and develop English u21 players like Branthwaite, Dibling, Armstrong.
2: Find undervalued u25s like Ndiaye and O'Brien.
3: Find underused senior players to provide immediate quality and short-term impact through leadership and experience e.g Grealish
To build a top 4 squad you either have to come from an already successful position, have the ability to spend fortunes or work the market and develop players.
For me, some underappreciate the likes of Garner and O'Brien. These types can play multiple roles and as we've seen with top successful sides, are invaluable in top level squads.
Currently In the squad I'd say that; Pickford, Branthwaite, O'Brien, Garner, Ndiaye, Alcaraz, Dibling and Grealish(?) are the only 8 players that I would deem the closest to 'unsellable'.
If we're looking at a squad of 23 players then clearly we still need to look at the likes of Travers, Tyrer, Tarkowski, Keane, Mykolenko, Aznou, Patterson, Coleman, Gana, Iroegbunam, Rohl, KDH, McNeil, Beto & Barry to see if any of those can join the 8 above in the next season or two.
Coming back to Armstrong, I find it extremely likely that he will join those 8 unsellable players upon returning to the club in the summer.
The key in my opinion, isn't whether the club would cash in on him. It is, for me if we can improve the other 15 to an extent that we have a top 6 squad.
Then he wont push for a move and we wont need to generate any funds from his sale.
